  • Hey hidden, just catching up on diaries after a 10 week break from MSE (burying my head in the sand- bad DTD!)

Just wanted to say that you are really doing amazingly. Your diary inspires me so much, and I'm not sure you realize what a positive impact you have on people on this site. There's always going to be bumps in the road but we get through them and come back stronger, and despite everything life is throwing at you at the moment you are being an amazing mummy to your children and are making some serious debt inroads! Just make sure you try and find some time for yourself in amongst it all- we always tend to put everyone else before ourselves, so taking even 10 minutes to just sit, or walk or whatever is really good for the soul (get me sounding all hippy- all my yoga is evidently driving he cynic out of me and paying off!!!)

Gonna have to do some more surveys tonight, I'm still hooked on prolific but your bargain voucher shopping has inspired me to up my game!

It is important that we know where we come from, because if you do not know where you come from, then you do not know where you are, and if you don't know where you are, then you don't know where you are going. If you don't know where you're going, you're probably going wrong.

  • Thank you, we are definitely coming out the other side of the bug now! I wouldn't wish that on anyone!

....and chase that referral and make your own appointment. Go on, stick those at the top of the priority list, I dare you! ;)

You've not left yourself short for the month paying that great lump to your Mum, have you? I totally get why you want that debt gone, but do make sure you're not leaving things that bit TOO squeaky!

I didn't chase the referral but I have made an appointment :o Least one is sorted. Best news is they've fit me in first thing tomorrow morning. Lets just hope they don't send me with the men in white coats ;) :rotfl:

I really have left us short :o I didn't take into account rent for December comes in before December wages come in :o I'm sure it will all work out though. Going to put off as much as possible until as late into December as I can (not bills but extra payments/things for the kids etc) and pray survey money lands in before things go out. If not I'll just discuss with the 4 weekly bills my payday is a few days past the due date.

Speaking of which Nationwide is down AGAIN! I'm going to look into changing to a different bank. I only have the very basic account anyway so it makes no difference to me.

That is brilliant and sometime just looking at debts in a different way helps a bit.
So... that is 24.27% of debts, 16.9% of rent arrears and 21.96% of that original total - in other words you are past one fifth and rapidly approaching a quarter of those debts. :T

I am not commenting on the new debts, not in the above. We all know these things happen.

For example, I have just spent a fortune on my tooth repair, only for the one underneath to break and so I am back to the dentist tomorrow - it could be hundreds. I just can't have a gap or they will all start to become unstable. Nightmare!

By the way, several banks have been down this week. Co-op has been a nightmare recently!
    Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)
OS Grocery Challenge in 2025 I am at £1286.68/£3000 or 42.89% of my annual spend so far

  • Well done for making the appointment and even better it is tomorrow so you have less time to worry and/or cancel. Yep, been there too.

If you can, make some notes to take with you. It will help focus your ideas and give you a bit of confidence too.

We can understand why you are overpaying but as EH says, don't make it impossible for day to day living.

You are starting to take control again which is great news. If help is offered tomorrow, please consider taking it.

    You are doing great.

    Take care honey
