When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important :money:

Thanks for stating DawnW! Morning everyone! I’ve had a fabulous weekend (I did spend quite a bit of money but some good memories were made so it’s not too bad). Logged into onepoll and discovered my balance was £35.55, this must have been from a while ago, chuffed to say the least! Today I am going to visit my new placement. It’s going to be really tough working full time alongside a full time placement and all the written work that goes with it but it’s only for a few months and then I will be free from studying forever more! The plans for today are:
    • Check bank
    • Check lucky phone / Ashleigh / number plate lotto / FPL
    • Food from cupboards
    • Surveys
    • Update challenges – PAD / make £20 a day / NSD / grocery challenge
    • NSD
    • Post Ebay items
    • Apply to Student funding
    • Sort birthday cards etc into cheap folders I’ve already bought so I’m more organised and not having to keep buying cards as I have misplaced the ones I’ve already got
    • Catch up on some tv and get a early(ish) night

    Have a good day everyone!

    Morning all :)
Up and about early so thought I would start us off for this week. Hopefully not cross posted with anyone else.

Need to pick OH up from the garage this morning as his truck needs to go in for a service (not very moneysaving here ) I then need to take pup to the vet's for his regular 3 monthly check up, flea and worm treatment etc, but this is covered as part of the benefits for the practice's 'pet club' subscription I pay (a monthly scheme that works out cheaper than paying as we go for these items plus annual jabs etc, also we get a percentage off other treatments) Done, £109 later... :( (truck, not pup!)

    Apart from that, I will:
    Post 3 ebay parcels :)Done
Message buyer who hasn't paid Done, but still no payment...
Take some items to my sales unit, and tidy it up Done, nothing seems to have sold over the weekend :(
Sow lettuce seeds Done, existing lettuce are a bit rubbish, compared to other salad greens :(
Also sowed radishes and spinach in drifts a la Alys Fowler (love Alys) Look forward to seeing how that goes. My garden is tiny, but I am always trying to get the maximum possible from it!
Planted 2 tomato plants in mini greenhouse in a grow bag that should have taken 3 but turned out to be split  The other one will have to go in a pot! Took some of the compost out of it and secured split end with a zip tie. OK,but shorter than it should be.
Took temp fence round raspberry / rhubarb / herb bed down. It was put up to keep DS's dog off it, but he is not here now, the raspberry canes have grown up, and if micro mutt gets up there, he can't do much harm :)
Water anything that needs it Back garden done. Might look at front later, or might wait till tomorrow.
Walk dog for free exercise Done
Get OH to help me alter the position of the harness in the car child seat as GD is growing so quickly! Done
Source some play sand for GD's new sand tray, which I hope will keep her out of trouble on Wednesday! Done :T
Do some housework :(Oops, why is it always this that slips :o
HM meals from stores :)Done, made a lovely salad from HG ingredients, mizuna, rocket, pea shoots, plus supermarket herbs :) I have loads of lovely rocket and mizuna leaves growing in pots :D

OK, better make myself some breakfast as we will need to head off by just after 8. Hope everyone has a nice day :)Done, porridge, fruit and yogurt, nice and healthy :)
Sold 2 more ebay items, which I must find, and pack the one that has paid!
OH going out, so looking forward to a nice quiet evening without the TV and random noisy facebook stuff without using headphones :T

    Morning all :coffee:
I have my heating set to come on in the morning if the temperature drops below 10 degrees. And it was on this morning. It's SO cold and windy here - reflects my mood for the day I think. I'm still not great although pleased to report that I did indeed get blanket number 2 finished last night as I'd hoped to.
Usual Monday, but I need a bit of a list for myself today.
    Check banking and PAD
    Full day of teaching
    Mark a set of books
Get an update from dd school about what's gone on with her and this other child (she punched her - I moaned about it lots on my diary)
Try not to worry too much about dh and his current mood :(
Take ds to his swimming lesson after school
Ring the vet and make a couple of appointments for annual vaccinations
    Aim for a nsd
Make a nutritious dinner if at all possible.

Thanks for the starter this week Dawn - have a good day everyone :hello:

Hi to all of the regulars and a BIG welcome to all the newbies, this is a really FAB thread with so many lovely, caring, considerate and supportive people.

Packed lunch for DH & DS - Done
Check Bank & make PAD - Done

    Appointment at 11 -
Few bits from shops (thanks to DS who's just given me his list for DT food tomorrow, if he'd said earlier I could have got them yesterday with shopping ) -
Paint more of fence (maybe) -
    Continue purge on emails -
    Enter a few comps -
    All meals from cupboards/fridge/freezer -

:hello:Thanks for starting us off Dawn. Happy Monday everyone.

I've got a bit of a headache - self inflicted I'm afraid. Had some wine last night....maybe a glass too much and head is not great this morning. Just devoured some scrambled egg on toast and will down lots of H2O so hopefully it will go shortly.

Think I had too much vino as I booked a place in Crete last night for mine and DH's 20th Wedding Anniversary at the end of June! I'm soooo excited. Have to say it wasn't cheap but I thought why not, it is 20 years and something to celebrate right?

Once the head has defogged I will:

    - Pop out later and post parcels from my Ebay wins and one from a FB page (no fees with that one)
    - Complete some more surveys
    - Back on the fitness wagon this week, especially now I have the thought of getting into a bikini at the end of June  so I'll get a weights workout in
    - Talking of bikini's I saw some on sale in Tesco's the other day. Might just see if they're still for sale. Tesco is right next to the post office where I need to post my parcels :)
    - All meals from home
    - Put on a wash and dry outside
    - Early night tonight and no alcohol!

That's it. Have a wonderful day everyone :T

CCL, it is draining living with someone that is moody. I found the best remedy to living with a sulker was just to say 'just to let you know, it's been noted that you are sulking but I'm not going to let it affect my mood so you can carry on or you can snap out of it'.
