Irresistible combinations

I'm eating trifle after what seems like years, and am marvelling at how well ice cold custard and whipped cream taste together. Neither ingredient is exotic, so it's easy to recreate.
Which makes me wonder: what other irresistible combinations am I missing? What are yours?

Blue Cheese, Pear and Walnut
Bacon and Cabbage (bacon, not too lean - you want fat to pour over the cabbage)
Mug of Tea (not a cup!) and Custard Cream Biscuits to dunk.
Fish Fingers and Salad Cream (preferably with white bread for a sarnie)
Strawberries and Black Pepper
Banana and Custard
Hot Milk and Nutmeg
Bread/Toast and Dripping
Spinach and Egg (egg to be poached or lightly fried on one side...you want a runny yolk)0 -

Milk chocolate and ready salted crisps, discovered this accidentally at a Birthday party when I was about six. Place crisps in mouth and
chew, then pop in a cube of milk choc and voila!A minute at the till, a lifetime on the bill.
Nothing tastes as good as being slim feels.

Custard and cream do go well together but I think they wild be even better if they weren't ice cold, but that's just my opinion.
My favourite combinations are:
marzipan and chocolate, cherry and chocolate (or even better marzipan, cherry and chocolate :rotfl: )
Cheese and jam (in a sandwich)
Toasted sourdough bread and Marmite
Artichoke, lemon and parmesan.0 -
Strawberries and balsamic vinegar. I know it sounds pretentious but you don't need a lot, just a tiny bit seems to make strawberries taste more like a strawberry. And I completely agree about custard and cream. I wish that it was acceptable to leave the jelly, sponge and fruit out of a trifle completely

edited to add: Shepherd's or Cottage pie and pickled red cabbage. It must be a Northern thing as we had this all the time when I was growing up, but my Southern OH thinks it's disgusting.Save0
