I recently bought a free view box (ALBA) I recieve Men & Motors but can not find the E4 channel. any ideas?
I don't know about Alba boxes in particular, but some boxes have the option of searching for either all channels or just those that are unencrypted. Have a look in the menu and then look in some of the options (it's in "configuration" in a Goodman box). You may then be able to reset the box to search for encrypted channels and undertake a search for new channels. E4 should the show up even though there won't be a picture. Hopefully it'll remain on this channel when it becomes unencrypted on Friday but, as this at present is a TUTV channel, we may all have to re-scan on Friday.0 -

If we bought it and just plugged it in to see if we got a reception, would there be anything else that needed to be done? Then if we got no reception we could take it back to the store? I didn't know that about digital radio - so if I could check to see if we can receive that (BBC website?), it could help?
As long as you make the possible return of the box a condition of the sale at the time you are buying it you should have no problems. Alternatively, buy your Freeview box from a shop that has a no quibble returns policy in which case they would have to take it back within their time limit no matter what.
As for digital radio, all Freeview boxes and ID TVs can receive digital radio as well as digital TV so if you can get decent reception on a stand alone digital radio you should also be able to get decent reception on a Freeview box.
If the reception is borderline you can get a signal booster into which you connect the aerial lead and then attach a second aerial lead which is then connected to your Freeview box. A signal booster will also need its own power socket and will cost you anything between £15 - £30 dependant upon how many output sockets it has.0 -
Hi Cheghead, how would you connect up Sky box and Freeview, wouldn't they clash?0

I have noticed that several shops including Argos and Currys state that Freeview boxes will nor be accepted back. This is for the very reason you said, that you get it home and you can't pick up Freeview on your existing aerial.

I know the box that i want so i have arranged for a friend who has that boax to bring it round so i can try it.0 -
If you don't know if it will work just order off the internet as you have the distance selling regs on your side, you can send it back within 7 days no explaination needed! Buying from boots would be good at the moment, triple points, 10% discount (voucher section) free delivery & returns which are very easy :j:j :j0

I have Pace sky box and Matsui DTR1 Freeview. Philips TV and DVD. I have connected at present like this:
TV rgb scart to sky tv scart
sky vcr scart to freeview tv scart
freeview vcr scart to dvd player
this enables me to get all on rgb giving excellent picture. Matsui auto switches between freeview and Sky so have set free sky channels to favourites.
(VCR goes to 2nd tv scart with no rgb).0 -
I got an email from egg touting a whopping 17.5% cashback if you bought something from Curry's this weekend with your egg card.0
