Quick question. You know if you have Sky and then get it switched off, you are still able to get the Freeview channels thru your box? Will I automatically get E4 without having to get the Sky swtiched on and off again?
    Cheers!

this should be the case, because if your sky box is dvb (most are) as well it will automatically update, and E4 will be there.

only have to wait till friday to find out:D

You dont get E4 with sky freeview, or Skysports news either :(

The quality is also superior on a standalone freeview box imo, although the user interfaces are a little lacking.

Conclusion=Get a freeview box and ditch sky if you dont want to pay for the premium channels

Yeah I've cancelled sky - going to get a freeview box once I've paid off some of my debts - probably next year sometime.

using your sky box without subscription and adding a freeview box will give you a nice selection of channels. definately a good option and will save you a fortune over the years!

If you have a dvd player and your tv like many only supports RGB on 1 scart make sure you get a freeview with 2 scarts and RGB loopthru! Not all 2 scart boxes have it. Matsui DTR1 from Currys is good choice.
