I know that you are all right and thanks for the advice. The problem is that the failings are well publicised. This place needs sorted and I'm not sure that there is capacity to do it. Reputationally, now that I'm associated with it, I need to be associated with the turn around rather than the issues. I have however made a decision. Today I am emailing the manager and advising that I need a clear run to get things underway which I don't get on site. Instead I will be working from home where I also have email over and above that on my work phone.
Last night we started on the list of client things that need done. There is a submission needed for Friday for an assignment I would love. It's a longshot but I have to give it a go.
Yesterday I contacted hospital and arranged an appointment with the diabetic clinic. I've decided that I can't muck about with my 11 pills a day to do the blood sugar diet. Also, if I start now, it'd run into the overseas wedding and I don't want to risk a health issue while away. My appointment is for the day before I go so I will start on my return. It's not about putting it off until...., it's about recognising how hard it'd be to stick to when not at home. Also, hopefully by then, I will feel less overwhelmed.
We were supposed to be out last night but didn't go. £20 wasted but I couldn't face it. The other two who were going had to cry off because of a vet related emergency so we just ran away too. An evening with holby was in order. The other couple have suggested coming here on Saturday. How can I say that my house is such a mess that I don't want them here?
On Mse news, I did a top up shop in Iceland yesterday. £15 spent and even managed to buy the one item I went in for. I did however leave the freezer slightly ajar but caught it within 2 hours so averted a crisis. The alarm didn't sound however which was worrying.
Today I am grateful for

I don't like people coming to my house as it's such a mess. I usually just say I'm in the middle of a big sort out, so it's not practical.
You could spend some time before the holiday getting to grips with the new eating plan so you know how it works ready for when you get back. There's nothing wrong with making small changes so they are easier to implement and stop you feeling so overwhelmed. You don't need to do it all at once. Small changes will still have benefits and eventually add up to big changes!"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Jwil, I am gonna plead work pressures which are actually there. If they come it'll be some time in the house then all out for a lengthy meal, etc. I don't have 5 hours to spare. They are a lovely couple but one is stay at home with the 2 cats so they don't really get time pressures.
Re the eating plan, DH has also suggested that he will try out a few of the recipes so we know what will work for us and have fewer barriers to success. Yesterday I emailed the client about working at home. Omg, talk about a guilt trip. They don't get that I can get a job done or can prop them up but not both.
Today I need to get my submission completed as it's due in tomorrow but we have tickets to a gig this evening that DH is very keen to go to. I'd sooner pass but he won't go on his own and has no like minded friends who would go to this. I'm a bit fed up. He's been working here for 12 years or so but has not established any friendships beyond people I've introduced him to. I feel under pressure to then do things he wants to do because there's no one else to do them with whereas he's totally fine about not making an effort for my interests. He only moved here from England because of me but I'm fed up always feeling guilty about what he gave up. Anyhow, here endeth that whinge. Iron maiden here I come.
Got 2 things cleared yesterday and attended a meeting. However none of this was on my list! I did get one thing cleared.
Today I have things that must go. This submission could give me a guaranteed £300 per month for up to 4 years so would be a good one to get. I need to get motoring.
Today I am grateful for

Good luck with the submission. I hope the gig wasn't too bad last night."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee1

If submission works out that would be great in terms of regular income. Good luck from me too. When will you know the outcome? If you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them

We'll, we saw iron maiden and it was better than expected for me and as good as DH hoped. We did appear to be seated in the small bladder section as there were constant comings and goings from attendees. This may be a reflection of the age profile of the fans!
I worked all day Thursday on my submission, got paperwork witnessed Thursday evening and got it scanned, uploaded and confirmation received at 8.34 yesterday morning. I then went to the nightmare client and wasted a number of hours. The manager left at lunchtime as he felt he'd done his hours for the week.
They are being investigated by the regulator but still thinks he can finish early every day. I escaped when he was leaving and went and bought lunch and a take away coffee that was more an essential than a treat. I spent more than I should have and then felt guilty as it was the second time in a week that lunch was purchased. I am worried about the interest rate rise but am so grateful that our mortgage is our only borrowing.
I contacted my friend yesterday and have pushed lunch back to possibly next week. Obv didn't give the real reason but today I am tackling the bedroom and things are being cleaned. Another friend advises that if you do the non public rooms in your house first, there's a better chance of getting it all done as you're less likely to leave the on view rooms a mess.

Glad the concert wasn't too bad... nothing worse than feeling forced to go somewhere you don't really want to be. Maybe time to put your foot down and tell OH to only buy 1 ticket for this sort of thing.. for himself
(not as though you need someone to talk to during an Iron Maiden concert) :rotfl: :rotfl:
The manager sounds as though he's given up and is just paying lip service... Nightmare indeed!
Take a deep breath, put all other thoughts aside, and the house will be tidy in no time. Then enjoy your weekend. XI Believe.....
