Yesterday, there was progress. I got one thing hung up, I collected dd from the airport, I did actually Hoover the living room and also the hall. It didn't matter that the stairs weren't done. We ate from stores, I issued two invoices which will help keep the wolf from the door. I sat dh down and gave him a talking to about his usual lack of financial engagement, probably more water of a duck's back. I explained that since March I'd managed to reduce the mortgage term by 2 days thanks to ops and also to keep my £20 a month saving. He has a lot more disposable income than I and needs to have a monthly savings amount. Even if just £20.
We also reinstated my office that was set up in dining room mode since the end of March. Oh, and I paid myself my April and May overheads. Now I have space, I will, in theory, dig out various receipts, and work out expenses. I try to have a buffer of £1k in my current account in case there's a delay in money hitting at month end and to cover dd's. Before the oh payments from the business account, there was only £157 left after bill payments and that was without me having anything to live on. That makes me nervous. Esp as I just don't pay myself expenses if I don't have money coming into the business account. I may also have some pennies owed to me from the business if I ever get around to doing my last year's accounts. Again though, this was something that requires space for me to work so needs to happen this week or next.
I have a meeting in dublin on Friday about a possible collaboration. If this is successful, it could totally transform things for me so positive vibes please. I now need to get a wiggle on. I'm going into the poorly but promptly paying job to provide cover for staff attending the funeral of a former service user. So sad but a regular occurrence given the client group with whom they engage.
Today I am grateful for

Slattern here too. I regularly put off stuff because it's too much time/hassle to do it properly. Sometimes half a job is better than no job!

Today I am staying in the house and working through both client and admin stuff. First task of the day will be to make a list, by client, and then to just plug away. Things need to get done. I also need to contact a few friends but need to be careful not to spend the day chatting. I wish my landline was hands free.
I spoke to a former colleague yesterday. He was my right hand for ten years. He is leaving my old employer. He is the final member of my team to jump ship since I submitted my resignation. So, in a year and a half, there has been a full scale clear out. In a way it bothers me to see something I worked so hard to create, being trashed. In other ways, maybe this is what it takes for the firm to see what they could have had if they had only been more supportive. Not a lot of comfort for me though with an income of less than 20% of what it had been! no pension pot, etc.
Still, it was my decision, I could have taken sick leave but I'm not sure that would have been an option. I not sure I could ever have faced going back if I had. I still haven't been back to that office though I have met up with various ex colleagues.
Yesterday we returned the wrong items to the Swedish store and got a refund. They no longer supply the bulbs we need to use in lights purchased from them. Not good. It's great that they are going more energy efficient however, quite often, the biggest environmental impact comes from the production of the light fitting. They should recognise this and continue to support ongoing use as well as green use options. That said, dh treated me to dinner from the coffee shop. Hotdogs, fries, drinks, ice creams all with change from £6. It also meant there was no cooking heat in the kitchen.
This will be a spendy week as I have lunch catch ups on wed and Thursday. That said, I issued another invoice yesterday and submitted the paperwork in support of it last night. It was only for a half day but it all helps. I have another one to go but the supporting paperwork will take a bit of time so that's one for the list. This is the 3 year contract one that is covering my set monthly income.
Right, I could ramble on all day but need to get things underway. Today I am grateful for
Finding butter and my brand of tea bags on offer in a local grocery store
Actually returning items that were of no use

Yesterday I finally got a report out the door. It's a relief. Just need another few to follow. Today I need to sort out minutes for an earlier meeting and get these circulated. I'm also meeting a client at 12 and then we are lunching at 1. Prep is needed for the fri meeting.
It looks like it'll be another warm day. I really struggle with the heat but at least last night was cooler. On other news, my large invoice remains outstanding. I emailed them yesterday and reminded them of the payment terms. I await a response. We had been awarded a contract in march but everything had gone quiet. Thankfully we heard from the client yesterday. This is our biggest contract to date so it's a relief that they want to move forward. I have to gain a further qualification so this job will cover the cost of that.
Today I am grateful for
