well, it’s Sunday but no weigh in as dh is away with the infuriating mother. Apparently his dad is doing ok with some of the concerns relating to his adaptation to a slightly healthier life style. The mother however continues to maintain that she is struggling but won’t accept any external help. They have more than sufficient money to cover costs and the offspring have offered to contribute. I’m not sure what can be done. On other news, she gifted us some money. I told dh to explain that we would rather she spent it on making life easier for them but she completely dismissed that.
In a way, the money will come in handy as we got our annual rates bill along with our quarterly gas bill so £3k just evaporated. Like everywhere else, prices have increased including our electricity costs but, for some reason, there are no price cap arrangements in NI along with fewer suppliers.
Yesterday I had the house to myself and got loads done plus some work stuff. This included things that bother me but that others query when I address them. The only spend was £5 on a chippy tea because I didn’t want to mess up the kitchen!
Today I have a list and I have plans. These include visiting the recycling centre en route to coffee with my friend and a stop off at mr T to get rid of soft plastics while making use of my last money off voucher, other jobs include finishing off the bathroom deep clean and a whites boil wash.
Today I am grateful for
Funds to cover bills inc getting a 5% rates discount for annual pay
Identifying a home for an unused item that has been in the garage for more than 5 years

Starting to feel in control is fabulous - and gives the rest of us hope that it can be done!
Re the MiL, she's really decided that's the line she wants to take, hasn't she? At least Dad is doing okay.

Glad you’re feeling more in control.
There’s not much you can do re mil…..until she decides she wants help. We were in a similar position with my sister in law…..plenty of cash to pay for help but refuses any and is downright obnoxious to any family members that try to help. The docs have now intervened and more or less told her she has to have help….

thanks for the support everyone. Well we are now heading towards the weekend and progress has continued. I was on site yesterday without having first had an upset tummy, this is progress. I had downtime between meetings and, rather than doing a 12 mile run home, I was able to do some write ups in the car and to get some reduced items from Tesco. Dinner was a combination of reduced items and odds and ends from the freezer. We are close to having one empty drawer which will be made use of to sort the rest of the contents to make sure nothing is going beyond use. The only things I don’t need to worry about are various breads and ice cream.
Yesterday I went to pick up monthly meds to find that my prescription has run out. Today I must battle to get through in the allocated time slot to reorder. Right, time to crack on as a report needs to go today and I have a further client call booked for 11. I may also help out with a school run at 1.30.
Today I am grateful for
Being able to provide tasty food and some treats for family
Possible new work
The heaviness starting to dissipate

Rejoicing with you over the heaviness lifting somewhat. That makes such a difference. Also nice work sorting out the reports while you were out so you didn't have to take them home to do later.
What a pain that you have to phone for your repeat prescription. I've said before that I think our GP practice is soooo much better organised than many I hear about here. There's a time you can ring, or you can drop a note in the letter box or go online to order repeats. That said, I think my bloods are due so they may want to take them before they will repeat the prescription.

Good news about the heaviness lifting…….long May it continue 👍

the heaviness remains at bay and my weight has also reduced by 2lbs. I finished the working week at 3 o’clock on Friday and feel better for it. Various commitments have been diaried with more to be done. My final outstanding invoice has been done and, on Friday, a client committed to an 18 month piece of work which will give me a small but steady income stream.
I also offloaded a few items to my sis on way back from the Fri client meeting and got my meds. I think that rising fuel costs are making me live in a more time and fuel efficient manner. Last night we were at a concert and had a frugal meal out due to not managing to eat at preferred spots. We also had enough take home that should cover two dinners today so I might just get a ready meal for me from the freezer.
Today there is a gold/ jewellery buying roadshow at a local hotel. We are going to attend with 2 watches dh no longer has a use for. They each retail around £200 and have original boxes and papers so we are curious to see what the offers are. If we accept them, this is an allocation to the fun and holiday pot. Right, there is an outline plan so need to crack on.
Today I am grateful for
Unwavering support from msers
Securing a source of income
A trickle of items continuing to be appropriately rehomed.

All sounds really positive 😊 Hope you enjoyed the concert and great result with the extra portions from the meal out.
