I tend to agree with you as regards to PB winnings inod. I have had the maximum allowance in these since 2021 and in all that time I've only experienced one month when I didn't win! I must admit that my average monthly wins over the period tend to be between £75-150 but I have experienced one win of £5,000 a year ago. Like you I agree I could get more in interest if I shopped around but, hey, I like the anticipation of the draw too!😁in_need_of_direction said:I have to admit that I am really disappointed if Ernie doesn’t come through for us. Between us we tend to average a few hundred a month. We could probably get more elsewhere with interest and careful planning but, I like the draw plus my self employed status means that income is uncertain until the end of the tax year so I like that wins don’t complicate things for me.Finally Debt Free! - July 2016 🌟

Lots of pondering going on combined with very little activity. On the plus side, part of a pound has departed leaving me at 12 stone. The other plus was two numbers on last night’s lottery that gets us a lucky dip. Today I had a lbm of a kind. I’ve realised that not getting things done as intended need not equate to not getting things done. Just writing that shows the extent to which I have been over complicating things. For example, if I want to get a dirtyish job done before my shower doesn’t mean that I need to delay the shower or not do it afterwards if I fun out of time before. Another thought has crept in this week. Beanie posted on someone’s thread “be proud”. It was a well earned comment but it struck me that I was brought up to believe “self praise is no praise at all” and that “pride goes before a fall”. I spend my life overthinking how to make things perfect, why what’s done isn’t perfect and consequently never feeling good enough or never being willing to try in case I get things wrong. It’s a horrible way to live and needs to stop now.In other news, I had a great night out with DH and dd going for a cheapish meal and then to see Michael Palin in conversation. He’s someone I could listen to forever, so interesting and so courteous. Also, the tickets were moderately priced at £24 each.Today I am going to shower, later than anticipated and then see what I can get done.

Pride becomes before a fall...don't get too big for your boots...show-off...self praise is no recommendation...
I struggle with feeling pleased with myself to this day!

I can really relate to that too. I spend half my life not doing stuff because I can't do it 'properly'. Not realising that getting half a job done is progress than can be celebrated and completed another time.

There's a proverb I read on a diary that I sometimes bring to mind when I rather want to put something off - "better to start in the evening than never start at all". It doesn't always work, but it does often mean I will start something or at least look at whatever it was I planned to do. The other one that works is my late mother saying " you can do anything for five minutes - if you can wash your hands after"

Oh and absolutely praise yourself for your achievements - big, little and inbetween

Somethings my mum (who had a debilitating condition with varying energy levels as I was growing up) used to say were ‘ The best you can do at the time is good enough’ ‘do what you can when you can’ These saying taught me a lot…..doesn’t stop me putting things off though 😂😂January spends - £587.587

Thanks for all the feedback and encouragement, it really helps knowing that it’s just not me. Equally though it’s annoying that people here who I see as expert jugglers and managers can feel the same. I also believe that it’s primarily a female thing which is also annoying. Anyhow, at the risk of boring everyone including myself, the weight is now 12 st 1lb. That said, I can’t really expect it to be any different given the lack of lifestyle changes. On other news, my tax bill has been paid and cleared both my bank account and my tax account. Now for the vat return to be submitted. Got some work stuff cleared up and submitted a request to Irish tax authorities for a small refund due to me.
no invoices were issued and two small ones remain outstanding. I’m nervous about not being able to make much of a pension contribution this year.We are continuing to remove older items from the freezer although some new stuff has been going in but mainly items like left over soup. There was a fair bit spent on groceries this week but a portion was to restock stores with on offer items. We also got a tgtg bread bag yesterday that had mountains of items we used including four freezable / easy to defrost items. Unfortunately there were none of the flavoured pancakes that this bakery specialises in.Yesterday I finally got around to having some items exit the house. Some were gifted, some went to recycling, some to general waste and some donations. We are already seeing the benefits as dh didn’t feel so overwhelmed and put some stuff on vinted. Just three things for small amounts but the first sold while the other two were being listed. I wish I’d counted all that went yesterday but I’m sure it was over a hundred items while another bundle is primed to go to dsis.
yesterday was eleven plus results day here and the oldest of the new generation did very well as did a friend’s grandson. They should both start the same school in September.Over the past week, it looked like a could progress a plan which had been stuck. This has caused me to sit and consider various impacts and practicalities and to query why dh had raised any of these. His response was that they only became factors if the idea merited serious consideration and, we didn’t have necessary facts to seriously consider. I think that sums up the big difference between us. He factfinds to inform decision making whereas I become more invested, the more progress I make.

Well done on the financial and decluttering progress!
If I may, I just spotted your signature says 'good enough for now'. You should remove the 'for now' and add a full stop instead. You are good enough now!"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee4
