in_need_of_direction said:Thanks for the feedback everyone. I’ve decided increased accountability is the way to go so here I am. I got a few work tasks done yesterday then met my friend for coffee. I also got the new bathroom cabinet stocked and have previous storage to dispose off. Am heading to a client meeting at ten so have to shift myself.

So yesterday I got a quote for cornice repair. I knew it wouldn’t be cheap but had no idea just how costly. I did a work meeting and cleared the follow up too. I finally complained about the window place messing us around and now have one of the two quotes I need. This was slightly less than expected.
i got rid of two small electricals, two broken grates and a piece of furniture to the recycling. I still need to get more on top of pressing work. Today dh has a hospital appointment and is then needed at work so I will take him then drop off into the office. My cc statement notification is in so a Christmas purchase will be made today to avail of a decent sized discount.

Good news on the window quote, not so welcome news on the cornice. Is it worth asking elsewhere in case you've got the more expensive cornice people?
All these activities are very impressive - well done for the recycling and being organised ahead of time on present buying!I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Thank you although I think that yesterday’s baby steps reduced to ant sized. With it being the first day of the credit card billing cycle, I stopped off to buy Cadbury Christmas coins after dropping dh into work. These were on a clubcard offer. I also got one frozen item that we regularly use along with some reduced bakery items and a few bits and pieces. The bulk of the coins are to go overseas when we holiday in November so I wanted them in early and while on offer. I got home to find I was one short and figured out it was due to counting twins as one rather than two. I also ordered the online item I intended as it’s currently got a £25 off offer.Little work was done though some things were slightly progressed. I got bedding washed but the rain had appeared by the time it was ready to be hung out. Today is brown bin day so I extracted out of date jars from the fridge and a few items from the cupboard. I also hand washed some cleaning cloths and put them on the line to dry as it think it helps to freshen them.
DIA, thanks for asking about our resident menace. Yesterday she climbed onto a different seat in the living room and made herself comfortable. Looks like more throws are needed. That said, she’s more effective than bubble wrap at relieving stress.
I finally heard from dd yesterday after a few days’ radio silence. She will be home on Saturday but won’t commit to how long which is far from helpful. today I have a teams at 11 so need to prep. Hopefully everyone manages hump day well.

Well, daily posts went out the window when early starts are needed. On Thursday I had to source paint before my 8.30 counselling session and Fri I needed to be in Dublin by ten. Turns out I got a call while on the road on Friday to cancel the meeting. The builder has been back on site intermittently and costs are continuing to rise. I’m also getting stressed as there is a need for more parties to be co ordinated, decisions to be taken and it all appears to be falling to me. I’ve only just realised how good our now retired previous builder was as he dealt with trades, suppliers, etc with stuff magically appearing. Ok so there may have been the odd time when I would have liked a differently sized radiator but I can live with that.
Work wise, some things got done but others are needed including some by my next meeting at ten on Monday. Also, it turns out that dd made a mistake about her homecoming. Her flight is on Sunday not Saturday. I can’t wait to see how furry face will react. I’m expecting multiple zoomies.
at the minute I am feeling both overwhelmed and panicked about money. My counsellor did point out that my next b12 jab is due soon and I do seem to dip in the run up to this. Today I want to do a dump run and a charity shop run before dd returns to claim a close personal attachment to the things that are exiting the house. Thanks to finding a number of whoopsied items yesterday, we have a meal plan for the next few days plus a replenished freezer.

Having work done is so stressful. Take care of yourself. I'm sure doggie's reaction to DD will be lovely!"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee2
