In my last home when people were looking, everyone liked the light coming through the hallway window at the top of the stairs.
All sounding good

So, the travelling pound reunited with its friend and I am now 2lbs up. So annoying as I have walked more in the past week than I normally would. This included a trip to the cinema on Monday to see the Thursday murder club. Unfortunately the miscasting of mr brosnan spolied it for me. With the other three, a name wasn’t needed for the fourth part. While looking for tickets, I discovered that the indie cinema I attended offers mon discounts so that may feature a bit more in the future given that, in theory, I can arrange my own work hours. The downside of the showing was discovering that older people cannot be silenced in the way children can!On other news, we have stalled with the window as we are getting the run around from the supplier. That said, the bathroom cabinet is now on the wall awaiting its contents. Yesterday we went and bought carpets for sitting room and dining room / office. I took advantage of a sparks offer and got 20% off extra long curtains for the living room and sitting room and these arrived this week. I got a further 20% later in the week so bought the brand shoes I’ve been eyeing up for months that were never included in any offers to date. Coincidentally I had just cashed in a £50 voucher from tcb so there weren’t too many pennies to find. Fingers crossed that they fit now. I’ve been on the look out for a wide fitting navy court shoe without too high a heel for ages as it would increase my number of wearable work suits by three.I have hit a mood slump which I think is contributed to by the money we are spending even though it has previously been set aside. You see it on this forum so often where anxiety creeps in over spending that will, for the most part, increase the value of an asset. Unfortunately anxiety causes inertia with me which leads to increased anxiety as I can’t seem to focus on anything including work. Logic tells me that work done equals income equals pots being replenished but still I remain frozen. Equally taking stuff to recycling makes for more space that’s more easily cleaned yet I stay trying to hide from life under the covers. Absurd, I know. I also know that once one thing gets done, others will follow but I still struggle with that first thing.Right, the intention is to make a start so I should. Today I am grateful for

Well done on the lottery win. I'm with you on the mood slump and finding it hard to get going. Hope it improves soon."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee1

Sorry to hear about the window supplier - extremely frustrating and adds to anxiety! I hope they pull their finger out soon. The curtains sound like an excellent buy - as do the shoes. I have to have wide fit shoes too - I have actually contacted M&S in the past begging for them to stock more of these, plus boots too. They have such great styles of excellent quality for the price, but a lot of the wider fit shoes are not included here and some are a little frumpy. So one is back to the really expensive online brands that cater to this or the cheaper online sites where the quality is not that good. 🤷♀️Finally Debt Free! - July 2016 🌟

The upheaval whilst necessary must be unsettling
I hadn't thought about anxiety causing inertia but yes, that is right.

You've had great success with the M&S buys. I hope the shoes are perfect. Good shoes are an investment.
I imagine quite a few people here will sympathise with the inertia. It's really hard to change direction from saving to spending. Would it help at all to start a new savings goal and put a pound or so in it? So that you are headed in a familiar direction. Just an idea.
And weight-wise, no gains recently, just that odd errant pound that keeps returning. Keep at it, it will be gone for good eventually.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Another one sympathising on the inertia. I think I have found some motivation at the moment, long may it last.My mortgage free diary: +++ Divide by Cucumber Error. Please reinstall universe and reboot+++

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I’ve decided increased accountability is the way to go so here I am. I got a few work tasks done yesterday then met my friend for coffee. I also got the new bathroom cabinet stocked and have previous storage to dispose off. Am heading to a client meeting at ten so have to shift myself.
