There's lots of positive stuff there, and well done on the PB win. I hope HMRC pull their finger out."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee2

Well done on the new work and the winnings! And in fact plenty of positives in there: a small change in weight is neither here nor there as you know. It could be a very temporary blip.
I'll cheer you on in the battle with the sugar, I hope you are past the bit where you felt unwell. Wise not to go cold turkey, which must be so hard.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

So another fortnight evaporated. Last weekend’s weigh in didn’t happen as it was just me and the furry one in situ from Fri to Sunday evening. DH went to do Father’s Day stuff for the weekend and dd went festivalling. My normal coffee meet up was cancelled due to Father’s Day commitments so I quite literally hibernated bar dog walks and attendance at a funeral service on Saturday morning. I don’t know if it was the complete detachment from things or what but this week stuff has gotten done and my mood has improved. It’s a bit like when an antidepressant starts to be effective after the bedding in period. Only, in this case, there’s been no change to my meds. If I’m ever back on here feeling completely hopeless, can someone please remind me what worked?
this week’s weigh in showed I was down 2lbs which is always a plus. DH got good news about a future promotion which has settled his future work plans providing clarity to mine. We did up the list of all that needs done around the house and sent it to the builder. I’m hoping the silence it has been met with is only temporary.I met up with two friends and have agreed to take on a small job for one of them. Two big assignments got put to bed, a few invoices and my reclaim from the Irish tax authorities went through. On the downside, DD heads off on Tuesday until September leaving insufficient time to deal with chaos she promised to tackle. My tongue has nearly been bitten through as I have realised that there’s nothing to be gained having a row at this point. I’m also turning a blind eye to the current state of the house. By Tuesday afternoon I will have the house to myself, dh has his office day, so the first to be deep cleaned is the kitchen, utility and downstairs shower room.Right, having burbled on long enough, I’m off to get something underway after updating my sig.
today I am grateful for

Glad you are feeling a bit better. A good hibernation seems to help sometimes!"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee2

Glad you are feeling a little better
It is a shame the responsibility for 'seeing' what needs doing in the house falls to you...If you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them

We must remember to prescribe regular hibernation for you. I think you must have needed it and the struggles you were experiencing were your mind and body trying to tell you about it. It may not even be a coincidence that you lost 2lbs (well done for that by the way! What a satisfying moment!)
Re the builder, perhaps he's on holiday? Or just using the nice weather to cram in more jobs?
How irritating that your DD hasn't left enough time to do her share of chaos-clearing. Could it just be bundled into her room and the door closed on it till she's back? I know that's not as good as having it sorted out, but it's better than having to look at it.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
