Thanks everyone for the validation of my thinking on the declutter. I really struggle to accept my own thought processes sometimes. Smaller numbers continue to go but they are going. The builder was back on site yesterday and one of the small jobs is completely finished. It’s only been on the to do list since 1990! While the builder was here, dh was persuaded to plant something which was breaking out of its pot. This addresses an empty spot in the flower bed and stops the plant from rooting itself in the gaps between patio paving stones. This morning I met with mr wii, it showed a loss but not enough to get me into another stone. I also checked my blood sugars and these are within range. I’m not sure how good an indicator this is as fasting bloods are typically within range but hba1c is typically too high.Checked my bank account yesterday and still no payments received. This did however spur me to issue an invoice that should be processed promptly.DH and I had a discussion about maybe needing to withdraw funds from savings to do all the house related work, redecoration and finally replacing the carpet inherited in 1990 for the sitting room. I’ve always hated it but it’s such good quality, I’ve struggled to get rid. It is going and hopefully the house will be fully sorted by Christmas (which I read somewhere is 22 weeks away).
I’ve accepted that it’s highly likely both my physical and mental health will drop at times. What I am trying to do is use more positive times to put the house in a more easily maintained position.Right, must get things underway. Today I am grateful for

Great news about the building work being completed, and exciting to have a new carpet before Christmas. I can't wait for the day we can replace ours which is a delightful 1970s treat. Too much stuff at the moment though, plus it doesn't seem worth it while we have elderly pets."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". That sounds like lots of real progress - well done! I think you deserve a new carpet and will love it. Transformational.

First off, the bad news. Mr Wii says I’m up a pound and the builder took my phone home yesterday instead of his own. Thankfully I had his email address so we should all be reunited soon. Plus while typing I just realised that I still haven’t paid my tax bill due at month end. Will need my phone for authentication to do that.In other news, two smallish jobs were completed this week by him. Three major jobs remain and money seems to be evaporating. One small client paid this week and money has been promised tomorrow on a big for me invoice. I was on site across three different clients this week and all went well. Just need to get the write ups and reports done. I also need to go see another client this week while a further one should be back from leave and may get in touch.
yesterday’s big surprise was that the dog came upstairs apparently on a whim. This is not something she has done which bothers us a bit as we both work upstairs. She was there for about an hour setting under a desk. This doesn’t leave much foot room as she is part dog, part donkey but I hope it means that she’s getting more at ease with us.Today I am going to the recycling centre to get rid of the skip rescued skirting boards that weren’t needed. We will hold onto one piece just in case. A trip to the charity shop will be included to off load more stuff and I will swing by my sister’s house to return some items.Yesterday evening we went to take advantage of some vouchers and offers at the local mr t. I was after some bubbles on the buy 6 get 25% off to combine with a £13 off a £90. We got our 6 bottles (I use these for client / non personal gifts) went to the checkout and found out that 2 bottles were further reduced so queue a frantic scramble which resulted in the not on offer purchase of two of my hot chocolate drinks and a bag of sweets. Total saving based on original prices was close to 50%. I also bought three packets of my current go to crisps that are on a clubcard offer. While I was shopping I was thinking that i need to start gathering up bits and pieces as we will be finishing our holiday with a short stay with Canadian family so goodies will be needed. I’ve two more of those vouchers, I may give next week a miss but check out any offers the following week. Required purchases include caramel Freddo bars, giant buttons, fry’s creams, Turkish delights, tayto cheese and onion crisps, etc.

Well done for the very successful shopping trip and getting jobs done!
The annoying thing about leaving your phone somewhere (or it accidentally going on its travels) is that it would be so easy to sort if you could just call the person... hope you get it back soon.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
