hello, thanks for popping in and cheerleading as always. Unfortunately I see both clutter and dirt and sit and fret about them both rather than doing much about them. I recently read an article on resentment that resonated. Just because I want things a certain way doesn’t mean that others are even aware. This recommends just rephrasing things in my head to I would like rather than we need. Another poster here spoke very recently about avoiding selfishness and this was an issue for me. It can’t be about what I want but about what would make things in general better. But, if I can’t live happily without my wants, this impacts on everyone so it’s not just a self issue iyswim.
anyhow, yesterday work was combined with house stuff and we were both shattered by six. Dinner was a takeaway so not particularly mse but more in the money well spent category. We got a third of one room done along with getting some cushion covers, bedding laundered. I decided it was time to take the unused Christmas bedding off my children’s beds, launder it and put it away hopefully for later this year. This is in spite of their combined planned trip home this month for which a Christmas dinner is being demanded.I took a call yesterday evening advising of a staff shortage today so I’m heading in early to cover. Today I am grateful for

You might find it helps to have a small area that is kept clean and tidy, even if it's just one surface?
You've reminded me that I promised myself a family get-together for my birthday, deferred till we can all be together - rather like your Christmas. It's been lovely being able to spend some time with the grown up children although we've not managed to get everyone together yet (DS2's and my shifts get in the way). I think you will all have a memorable Christmas!
I think your takeaway was well-earned and a good strategic move.Hope today's shift goes well.

Impressed that you got a third of a room done. Focus on what you have done. (says the woman who steadfastly ignores all achievements....moving on)

thank you all for the wise words. Yesterday I managed to stop and buy the half price wipe clean storage baskets so a tiny bit more progress in the boiler house. I think that’s as far as it can go. I did find a pair of dried up kitchen gloves that have now been dumped. Our gardening firm came yesterday, removed and dumped some plants from a pot and completely failed to remove the dreaded horses tail weeds from a flower bed. Apparently it wasn’t the usual guy but am not happy. This is one for dh to deal with.
yesterday also produced evidence that I need to rein in mindless spending. I’m not sure how I managed to order two large memory foam dog beds instead of one!I also got an email from dh while on site. A cancellation has become available for a hospital appointment so I called them back and am being seen at 9 today. I really don’t want to go as, in a way, it’s just a reminder of how useless I am. I know I will end up crying and will be embarrassed by that. It also makes it harder for me to keep putting my head in the sand.Right, can’t add being late to my list of issues. Today I am grateful for
my anticipated win from premium bonds

I hope your appointment has been helpful. It's horrible having to make up your mind to have 'that appointment' but it sounds as though your DH has got your back in his own way and of course we here will try to offer support too.
Roll on that Premium Bond win, by the way!I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Well?
How did it go?
I hope it went better than expected but in case it didn't, it was just one moment in time. Doesn't define you.
