{{Hugs}}
Maybe you do need a bigger bit of paper. Maybe he needs a simplified format. I don't know. Getting both of a couple singing off the same hymn sheet (so to speak) has been such a theme on these boards over the years.
I realised I can only change me, not DH, though rather like your DH, he listens to my explanations and then forgets. He means well, it's just not on his horizon and in our case, he is rather scared of finances. However over the years he's done a money management course which he found rather overwhelming (and me trained in debt advice... we differ) but out of that came one little step forward, in that we agreed to take out cash each week for food spending. That one little increment has actually turned out to be very useful and saved us hundreds over the years. I don't know if there's a 'one little increment' that would work for you, but if there is, I hope you can find it.
Anyway, more hugs from me, and virtual tea and cake (no sugar in the virtual one, so have another). I wish I could be of real use instead of helplessly proffering suggestions but I'm guessing you two have very different strengths and it's hard to find an opportunity to talk it through where you're both equally able to move forward.

I hope you can manage to come to a solution, I know it's hard. x"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee2

one of the issues is that life’s busy enough to provide excuses for not tackling stuff.So we resent ds’s birthday parcel and the next day we sent DD’s. we used a different courier rather than Royal Mail and both parcels have delays posted against them. Not good. DD has however booked to come home in two weeks so fingers crossed that happens.Yesterday I had to go to a client before heading into the usual one. I forgot to give the chef a lift! I cannot repeat that today!Despite that, he made last night’s dinner for us with leftovers that wouldn’t otherwise be used so we had free food and there was less waste. Need to contact a Dublin client before heading in so need to get going.

Hey INOD
Meltdowns are good, I mean they SUCK at the time but afterwards it is like the tide has gone out and things are a bit clearer. You will figure it out.
Love that the dog wanted to walk more XXNevertheless she persisted.4 -

Thanks for dropping by. Things are so boringly repetitive that they’re boring me and I don’t feel the need to share that experience. DH and I had the money talk stage one. He slept badly that night!Yesterday he got a back dated pay rise which was good. We are buying new plates and dithering over what else to do.Today starts my employment of my nieces to sort out my business paperwork. There may only be 10 hours work for them but they can fit it around their existing part time work.The only other thing to report is that I am close to £20 in prolific plus I won 10p on tcb.
today I am grateful for
