Pleased to hear you are ok - I was wondering how you were.
Money spent on the home is a good spend in my books...nothing gets me down more than seeing jobs that need doing.....the sense of well being afterwards is worth every penny - non of us know what’s around the corner so we need to the right balance of spending, debt busting and saving. We spend a long time in our homes- they need to have a feel good factor about them. Enjoy making plans for your home 🏠January spends - £587.5810 -
Thanks for your comments milann, they make perfect sense. It would also help with saleability if we ever decide to move. Next stage is a floor plan as it’s an irregularly shaped room with a wall that curves. I know a recent design graduate who is working in a different sector and who can’t break into design. I’m thinking of asking for input for a fixed fee that would start her portfolio. What do people think? I’m very good at disliking stuff, not so good at seeing possibilities and dh generally doesn’t input much on stuff like this.Yesterday I did very little bar whinge about the heat. This also caused me to sleep really badly. There was a tiny babystep on the current big issue which is at least progress in the right direction. I also had my weekly conversation with mr wii and I’m up a pound. This has to stop especially as 80% of my excess weight is on my belly. I pulled on a dress to go to a client last Monday and I looked like I was pregnant wearing a too short dress as it seemed to ride up over my belly. This has to stop for so many reasons inc health, self esteem, etc.Right, need to go and face the world. It’s a scary place with the complete lack of guidance letting people interpret rules as do as you please.Today I am grateful for
firefighters being able to bring a blaze under control. It was close enough for us to need to close windows to stop my coughing

I think that would be a great idea. Definitely fixed price - hourly or day work prices can be horrendous. Would also probably help you to see some possibilities which you can't see at the moment.

I think the same as joedenise: someone else's ideas may open up possibilities, whether as they envisage it or by sparking off ideas of your own. It's also a lovely thought to help kickstart someone's portfolio, and as you know, networking is a valuable ability.
(My other thought is that I have a tendency to react negatively to new things, but given 24 hours I can see the positives so perhaps give yourself whatever your settling-in time is, before making a negative decision about any suggestions).
Good to hear you are feeling better - please go on looking after yourself! I'm another who gains belly weight: you know it can be related to stress? Four days of brisk walking haven't got rid of it on me and I am (unrealistically) disappointed. I suppose another week might see results...disheartening, isn't it?
Clearly we're in for the long haul but having done what I can to prevent a frontal attack of Covid, I'm not going to let it get me through the back door by damaging my health in other ways. Same goes for the lifestyle factors and stressors of a decade and more ago which got me in this situation: those stresses are gone now - their legacy remains but I'm determined not to let it win. So keep on making the small choices that help overcome it. That story of which wolf you feed comes to mind.
Absolutely agree on people interpreting as they see fit: I stopped out of the staff room yesterday as four staff came in and sat round the desk without masks. They all felt safe as they were at ease with each other and away from residents, but oblivious to the notice on the door asking people to wear masks when there was more than one person in that (small) space. As they talked there was an ambulance outside the door to collect a resident who had gone down with a cough. This setting had an outbreak a few weeks ago and some of the staff don't even seem to have done their online Covid PPE training yet, despite giving care to two very sick people who have been discharged now they are no longer infectious. It beggars belief, doesn't it? Yet these staff felt safe and copied each other because they weren't alert to their situation.
Sorry, that turned into a rant but you know what I mean - people think it doesn't apply to them.
Anyway I hope you have a good day despite my mutterings! Can you get a fan to cool you down? It's another hot day here.

Rant away cherry, you are echoing my own views. I specifically stated there were to be no more than two staff in a small area and yesterday I counted six. One of these regularly complains that she doesn’t believe a measured out interview room is sufficient to meet with a service user. I’m fed up with people who only see the need to apply rules when it suits and then try to use them to avoid work.Yesterday I went shopping with a colleague to buy essential diy items and bumped into a friend. It was so nice to randomly see a friendly face. We didn’t get all that we wanted but we got enough. Other than that, not much was done. I then came home to my rates bill. If I pay up front, I will get a £85 discount. At present, I have that set aside from last year’s earnings so that’s what I will do. I will even get avios points which is nice, assuming the opportunity to use these arises.Oh, I have just remembered. As of yesterday I have some admin support. This is someone I have used in a different capacity before who is totally reliable. She is self employed with not too much on at present so it works for both of us. She starts on Wednesday at ten and we will go from there.I’m not sure why but my shoulder has started to play up again and the pollen count has soared. I am also tired due to the heat and therefore grumpy, can’t you tell?
i am due to taxi the relief chef today which determines my work pattern. I need to find something cool to wear.Today I am grateful for

Great that you have reliable admin, I'm sure that will ease the load noticeably.
Well done on the rates discount too.

I’m fed up with this game. I want things back to normal or at least to know what the new normal is. It is a lot cooler here today which is good. The furry one has been struggling with the heat. There have also been stupid numbers of people out and about and hopefully that may now reduce. On the plus side, another month’s mortgage goes out today. I am hopeful that outstanding mortgage less offset fund will bring me to around half where I was when I started posting here. I do like my percentages.I have missed the date for changing the regular saver which is the offset account. I am going to have to up it a bit more for the next months. The question is do I sail close to the wind with a £5 increase or go for broke with £10? I would ask dh but what would be the point? for someone intelligent, he has a money matters blind spot.Today my admin comes in from ten to four. This is good. Yesterday I had a meeting with the daytime line managers. There’s little I can say beyond that.
right, time to get sorted to taxi the chef.Today I am grateful for
