  • It’s not just the job at the minute beanie. I’ve hit a major slump in quite a few areas. I really need my house sorted. It’s getting me down as is my inability to function properly in it. I then leave here and go to a dysfunctional client plus dh and I aren’t getting along brilliantly at present. I even lost the thread on poldark. It’s not good.

So what baby steps can you take to help in the areas that you are struggling with.
Hope you have a good week :)

It’s hard when you hit a slump. The obvious answer is to take a step back from the situation but the reality of doing this can be impossible when you have a lot going on. I hope you can come up with a plan to help you get through.

I really hope the house gets sorted quickly - I hate it when we have had work done and there's no privacy and reduced access to things. With all the other things you're coping with, well, I'm sure you could just do without it.

The final straw would be losing the thread on Poldark.:eek:

I've PM'ed you btw, feel free to ignore if it isn't appropriate. :o

  • It never rains but it pours! The manager is off but there is increasing evidence of work undone. One staff member was hospitalised on Monday after a non work related accident and is unlikely to be in for a while, another called me last night to say his son had a serious car accident and is in hospital 100 miles away. Another may still be off sick today. This is in addition to the long term absences. This is in a week when I have deadlines and other client commitments.

It is also dd’s Birthday tomorrow so the essential parcel containing exotica such as fingers or fudge and Percy pigs had to be despatched. Don’t you know that such items clearly aren’t available in England!

On the plus side, the work is progressing in the house with snags being addressed. The other plus is that the manager’s behaviour has been so erratic that the trustees are having an emergency meeting on thurs as the gaps are now too great for them to ignore. Right, I have dentist first thing then a meeting to sign a contract for £2k pa for 3 years most of which is just retainer. That equates to business insurance plus overheads which is good.

  • So we picked up a £70 job lot of tiles on Saturday that I wasn’t too fussed on but that would do. Between the builder and the tiler, they worked some kind of magic with a silver grout and the whole thing is amazing. There was even one left over that went above the tiny sink they installed in the shower room.

I met the other client briefly and got my contract signed yesterday. I also made progress with a time bounded piece of work which is good. The chef at the client had food left over yesterday so he made me a take home box which I called into my mum with and there was enough for two meals for her plus dh’s dinner. I’d had some for lunch so that worked out well. Today is dd’s Birthday, I really hope that her brother and/or friends have arranged something for this evening as she makes a big thing of birthdays.

It is horribly hot and muggy here today. I have a presentation to deliver this evening at five but I think I will bring the business clothes on site as it’s too warm to encase my milk bottle with a tinge of blue legs for a full day. Tonight the usual client has their ad hoc meeting to discuss the manager. This starts at 6.15 so I’ll be lucky to be away by 8. Still, best get the day underway.

    Today I am grateful for
A far better than expected outcome on the tiles
    A signed contract
    Free food
