Glad you had the conversation. .. much better than bottling things up for too long.
Has OH thought about having some 'refresher' driving lessons? A friend of mine did after an absence of driving for a few years. It may give him more confidence knowing that the instructor is really 'in charge' and after 4/5 lessons will feel better able to do it on his own.I Believe.....

Builder is on site. Work has commenced. This is always a plus. Yesterday I submitted an application for a job that I am not sure I want but was asked to apply for. I’m sure the text will be of use somewhere at some point. Apart from that, work wise I feel I’m surrounded by numpties. I am increasingly losing patience and being dragged into places I don’t wish to go. There’s also been an issue with some of my invoices that I haven’t been able to face sorting out. Im just in a grump!
Anyhow I am also running late. Today I am grateful for

I always find living with building work is stressful in more ways than you'd think, so I hope all goes smoothly and it's completed quickly.
Sorry to hear about the numpties and the invoices. I hope something positive happens to brighten your day!I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Invoices are a 'thing' for me too at the moment. Waiting to be paid and the unnecessary confusion caused by others is very frustrating. I'm not always sure if my invoices are passed on to the finance dept as soon as I submit them or if they hang around for a while.
I do like being self employed and am probably after all these years 'unemployable' in the conventional sense but its hard to budget and juggle everything.

I’m still not sure about self employment but it’s currently paying the bills. I’m trying it to avoid just getting a job that I don’t like. If the right job were to come along, I’d jump at it. Anyhow, I had a fairly frank chat with one of the numpties yesterday and that helped.
It also meant I was leaving at half eight. I called my mum on my drive home and she kinda just tapered off which meant a frantic dash to hers. I arrived at the same time as one of her care assistants. It turned out that she hadn’t had anything to eat or drink all day because she was afraid of an upset tummy. I had called my sister on the way and she came over too. Turns out that both she and my brother had been in and this wasn’t mentioned. It’s exasperating and left me feeling like a wrung out rag.
Today I am going to that client and am getting some things set out for the staff. I’ve had enough of their work avoidance. If they aren’t up to facing certain tasks either go home or do it. I’m spending too long pandering to others and it’s sucking up my energy. Please feel free to hold me accountable for this!

How scary about your Mum. It brought back memories of incidents with my mum, and it really does take it out of you. At least you were able to be there and get things sorted, and if you hadn't been, the carer would have seen her - maybe a handover book between you, your siblings and the carers could help flag up trends and possible problems? However, in my experience mothers are not easy to govern.
If she has a history of upset tums, is there a remedy she could keep in the house? Or is she not safe to do that?
I hope your directives at work pay off and they either buckle down or own up they aren't up to it. I'm sure they wouldn't survive in a less generous workplace!I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

So, we need a lot more building work done than anticipated. It solves the problem of savings versus mortgage overpayments! It also kick started clearing out the garage as the contents of the kitchen need to go there. Yesterday was hard work that culminated in a trip to the charity shop followed by the recycling centre. On the plus side it finally forced me to get rid of a testament to reckless spending that cost around £100, was used once, got damaged needed a repair (that may not have been successful) and has been sitting where I see it most days for about 5 years. Because of the initial cost, I couldn’t just get rid but I’ve now had to and feel so much happier. Today will have to be spent dealing with our massive larder cupboard which needs to be moved. I’m just hoping we can keep our emergency fund intact.
I am worn out and have a few balls to be juggled home and work wise. I am also achey and am about to have a chat with mr wii. I’m not sure what to expect as there were some good and some not so good days. My bs has crept into high again but I did have crumble and custard around 9 last night.
