  • Thanks you two. Seriously, why did I let myself get to the point where I was happy to be classed as overweight. I do have years of abusing sugar and blaming it on stress. Sometimes I would have exceeded my daily recommended amounts by ten o’clock but we also ate too much. Instead of sharing a tin of soup, we got bigger mugs to fit a whole tin and had it with three slices of buttered toast convincing ourselves that it was a light lunch. I’d then have had a cuppa and a biscuit or two.
So while the bs is improving, the big lesson is to stop being piggies

Today’s bs was down a point from yesterday which is well within range. Yesterday was day 1 completely without one of the diabetes meds. Two more to go. One is one a day and the other is three a day. The next target is the one a day and the aim for reduction even just in the strength of the three a day.

Yesterday I got some work stuff cleared and two invoices issued. Today will be a bit busy as I have two meetings for that client and also two things to get out the door for another client.

I had a few attacks of the munchies yesterday so instead of slumping in front of the telly, I cleared all the ironing last night so that’s all the laundry completely up to date bar a few odds and sods.

That amazing mail order shop delivered a new transformer dh ordered on Saturday which got a favourite light working again. It was under £10 though he paid which was lovely. We also shopped in 3 different places spending money on the last day of the cc billing period but we were able to use £12.50 worth of vouchers that would otherwise have expired.

    Today I am grateful for
Being prepped for the week ahead
    The ibs tablets working
Being able to see some progress

Very impressed by your new eating habits! And so glad that you're able to reduce your meds. Is your GP now on board or are you doing the reduction with the advice of your consultant. I'm not diabetic but was once thought to be pre, so I'm not sure if there's an established path for reducing meds while following the diet?
Anyway congratulations again on sticking to the plan and getting such great results in return so quickly. Perhaps your GP will rethink his approach,to the benefit of other patients, after seeing your success.
    All respect to you!

    Congratulations on being overweight :D

I am amazed about how well you've managed this eating plan and the results you've had. Giving up a medication is a fantastic result :T

  • My GP won’t make any recommendation outside nhs guidelines but the nurse might make a few suggestions. So far I’ve made reductions on the advice of the consultant who mapped out a specific to me plan. However, she has said that tHe next drug to go needs to be after my 3 month follow up visit. This took just over a year last time with me chasing it. It has now been 3 months since I last saw her but I’ve no appointment date as yet. I will try to chase that.

It has been a busy week so far and that will continue until the weekend. Today dh needs an early start and I am working across 2 clients and 3 sites. I have also yet to parcel up and send off the Easter eggs for the parasites. Looks like a courier company job which, with Cashback, might be cheaper and quicker. Right, I really need to get motoring.

    Today I am grateful for
Sustained and hopefully sustainable bs levels

So impressed with the way you have tackled health and diet.

  • I am the queen of self sabotage. Yesterday I turned into ms Pac-Man. By ten I had eaten my lunch. By one I had added an apple and my emergency biscuit along with 2 tuc biscuits. Around 4 I had an orange and half a large bag of bacon fries, we had an early dinner as planned and then I had a packet of baked crisps and two spearmint chews. This was in addition to copious cups of tea and one strong coffee.
On the plus side, my bs remained within range but I’m now worried my weight will have crept back up into that other category.

Yesterday was a day spent running between clients and meetings with some stuff getting done. Last night I discovered that a supplier gave me the wrong files and that needs to be remedied today as my client is under serious time pressure.

We managed to get the eggs parcelled up and despatched yesterday. For the first time we used a courier rather than the post office as we didn’t need to factor in bank holidays, it was cheaper and we got Cashback. Fingers crossed that they get there. Today I am bringing eggs into the staff at that client. I am also working out a plan of attack for the next few weeks. Won’t that be fun and games! That said, the manager has been both supportive and accommodating which is so nice of him.
I also need to send off a form today to somewhere that I was previously involved as they have discovered that they owe me £74. I’ll happily take that.
Yesterday I bumped into our builder to discuss tackling the dampness in the kitchen, the refit and weatherproofing of the boiler house, etc. He is coming back with a quote on Tuesday that I hope isn’t too far from our cash windfall from a few months back.

    Today I am grateful for
    Work babysteps
    House babysteps
Engagement with a good group yesterday

I hate days like that. Hope you get back on it today and it won't affect your weight that much

I'd just write off the food sabotage yesterday and think like Scarlett O'Hara that tomorrow is another day.:) I had a day like it today - massive amount of carrot cake courtesy of our firm. I've also eaten two little custard tarts my boss bought me. :(. Didn't have to eat it all but......

Hope the building quote is feasible.

    Have a good Easter inod
