Remain does not need a message, it does not exist. Conservatives will campaign on the white paper, hard Brexit is good for Britain, so all the other parties need to do is advocate "soft Brexit". Remainers will be more likely to vote for that than hard Brexit.

"Soft Brexit", you mean not leaving the EU because that's what people who use that term actually mean. Staying inside the Single Market means that we are still part of the EU with all the laws and freedom of movement that go with it.

We're not boiling an egg here, we either leave the EU or we don't.
Hard or soft Brexit are just propaganda terms used by people who refuse the referendum result.

..Imagine the LibDem campaigners banging on doors in places like Sunderland; trying to explain why Tim Farron wants to ignore their democratic vote in a referendum...

I already have a furshlinger Lib Dem candidate for Metro Mayor campaigning on the basis of fighting against the democratic vote in a referendum. And Brexit has naff all to do with the office of Metro Mayor. :)

To be fair, it's got nothing to do with the EU bill.

I think she would have preferred it to have been, but the opposition backed down. The rest still stands.

She's said the GE is to 'make a success out of Brexit'. She's going to struggle to avoid talking about Tory brexit policy without outlining what that success looks like.

Unless it's another Brexit means Brexit mantra.

That is my point, she will stick to the script of what she has said already. She will not have any new things to say.

No that is what YOU mean by soft Brexit.

    What do you actually mean?
That we can leave softly and still stay in the Single Market but have no freedom of movement, control our own immigration and make our own laws and not pay the EU a penny.

Guess if we do it softly enough the EU might not notice that we have actually left.

As I believe that Brown was wrong not to call an election after he became leader, so I think it right that May does so. Saying that, the hypocrisy of calling one weeks after stating that Scotland cannot have its new independence referendum due to the need to focus on the EU negotiations is staggering.

She also said again (as with her Easter message) that the country is coming together, but I cannot see that at all and think we are the most divided I can remember us being as a nation. She seems to think that just saying something makes it true, which is a little worrying in my book!

    I agree.

I think that whenever a PM resigns, it should either be as a result of a General Election, else initiate the process.

Cameron lost the Brexit vote, but I would have preferred and trusted him more than Theresa May at the helm.
He should have remained the PM to carry out the democratic will of the electorate.

Calling a GE almost a year after assuming the office to occur almost two years after taking the position makes me think she is either politically manipulating the system for the good of her party as opposed the country, else she's looking for that get out option as it appears she is feeling the strain of the role.

We have a fixed term parliament and it should remain for the duration else occur if a PM steps down (in my opinion)

The government can tweak house prices to peak just before a GE?

If they're so skilled they must be keeping A&E waiting times and the deficit high just for fun.

Oh right, so the government have got no desire or ability to manipulate the property market for political reasons. Thanks for putting me straight on that one.
