I think it's frankly ludicrous to suppose that people are going to treat a GE as a rerun of the EU referendum.
Most people figure the result was the result and that's it, whether or not the result was what they wanted.
It isn't obvious anyway whom to vote for if you did want to vote to reverse the result. The only two parties with an agenda to do so are the SNP and the LibDems. Both are a minority taste with minimal national support; if they were attractive to vote for, more people would be doing so now. In any case, they are also regional parties, who would only ever get into government in coalition with Labour, after a hung result. It's unclear in that case that Khorbiyn's Labour would actually agree to reverse the vote result, and anyway, most sensible people would agree that electing Labour to avoid the conjectural economic damage of leaving the EU would inflict far more certain harm on the economy than it debatably avoided. Nobody's going to vote to cut off their nose to spite their face.0 -
Just seen Keir Starmer criticise May for closing off options for the EU negotiations - then himself close off a huge aspect of the negotiations by giving away full rights for EU citizens in the UK without a reciprocal agreement.
Without wishing to appear harsh, that is an unbelievably naive statement.
Me to 27 next door neighbours -
"I'm giving all of you unrestricted access to my house, to my money, to my accommodation and to my food. Now that I've done that, I assure you that I won't change my mind under any circumstances. Now I'd like you all to agree to allow me the same access to all these things of yours. I know that you have to be unanimous in that decision, but I'm sure you will treat me fairly, regardless of any other considerations for you or your families."
Spokesperson for the 27 neighbours -
"Thanks very much for being so kind and I assure you that our families will make full use of your generosity. Now, on that other stuff you said - sadly, one region of Germany says no, so I'm afraid the answer is no."
Cheers, Labour.
(For the record, I have no problem with EU citizens having these rights, on the cast-iron condition that UK citizens have the same in the other 27 countries. If they say "no", so do we.)

Strange that Gina isn't standing as a candidate given her heartfelt belief in the democratic process....0 -

This labour policy on brexit is the most shambolic fag packet nonsense ever constructed.
Both the uk and eu have agreed in principle to address the citizenship issue as a priority.
Labour want to chuck that commitment in the bin and let the EU add our citizens into their negotiating pot.
Labour want to protect the single market and customs union. Ok fine but they haven't mentioned the associated strategy on immigration controls (as they are inherently linked). I wonder why?
They want to throw away the current stack of EU legislation and replace it with completely new legislation which is fundamentally the same but instead takes years to resolve.
They want to tell the EU that if they don't give us a really good deal then we'll just stay after all. Erm... engage brain please you idiots.0 -

A cheap populist move IMO.
I don't for one minute imagine Labour would negotiate hard for the UK in Brexit. They would roll over and wait for a tummy tickle.
Tim Farron is only slightly better, in that he would make us look like a bunch of dithering idiots who changed their mind at the first signs of pressure.0 -
Reading the ghastly Kerry-Anne Mendoza's website? Why would you waste your time on that garbage? Surely there are credible sources of pro-Labour news out there? Aren't there.......?0 -

I love The Canary for that very reason. It is delusional twaddle of course but quite fun to read.Money doesn’t make you happy—it makes you unhappy in a better part of town. David Siegel0 -

Ms Miller’s claim that she only launched that legal challenge to Brexit so that Parliament could have a say on it has been shattered into a million tiny lies by her launch of this crowd-funded effort to back Brexit-suspicious candidates in the election.
A crowd-funded campaign against "the idiocy" of the crowd? Too much.0
