A furious interview on Sky News with Peter Kirkham, former Met CI. He says Theresa May is lying about there being more police on the streets in the wake of yesterday's attacks.
He said she was well aware numbers were falling when she was Home Sec and there are no more armed officers than in 2010.
12 hour shifts are being stretched to 16 hour shifts and rare leave days cancelled. He says they are at breaking point and if the attack had happened elsewhere in the country there would be no additional man hours to call in as forces outside London are 'threadbare'.
The government cannot continue running our police force like this.

If this is true, and why would we think it is not, it is shocking and as he says "The Government is lying"There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.0 -
In light of his rejection of Climate change and tweets about the Mayor of London shouldn't this be the Question we should ask all candidates and the leaders of the political party's. If you were elected on June 9th would you withdraw the invitation to Donald Trump to visit Britain?
Would the answer effect how people would vote? There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.0 -

There is a lot of discontent among a number of Conservative voters of all ages. I haven't necessarily agreed with all policies however after the last 18-ish months, I'm unlikely to ever vote Conservative again in my lifetime. How many others feel this strongly I don't know, however I'd suggest it's a fair few.
Of course, there are defections back from UKIP to Conservatives to consider, however on the whole also, the Labour vote has held up better in reality than many polls were saying at the time of by-elections, too.
Just a reminder, as I don't know if you've seen me post this before; I live on the wealthier side of my constituency, which is one dependent on the single market both through commuting city workers and an international airport where a foreign airline is the biggest customer (so the single market indirectly provides work for a large proportion of my local social circle). I don't know if that has skewed what I'm seeing at all, however likely not.0 -

Well - I don't think either JC or TM are going to suggest not talking to Trump or rejecting a positive or at worst engaged relationship with the USA is the way forwards.
Now is not the time to be an ostrich IMHO.
Trump will continue to frequently tweet inanely and like a delinquent child and very occasionally with some justification.I am just thinking out loud - nothing I say should be relied upon!
I do however reserve the right to be correct by accident.0 -

Would not affect how I will vote.
Trump is one man - many of the states are now doing their own thing as regards "climate change", he is not going to stop them taking action as they want.
You can see why he wants to renegotiate - China is a massive polluter and has promised to "peak" it's emissions by 2030 - basically saying they will continue on as they are for the time being, increasing emissions until that time when technology will have advanced enough that they would decrease anyway, they have agreed to nothing they were not doing anyway.
The US's plan, which the Obama administration submitted in March 2015, set the goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 26% to 28% by 2025. He didn't even put it to congress, he signed an executive order, basically forced it through.
It is not unreasonable to want to renegotiate it when you look at it that way.
I don't deny there is climate change, but I think it is very arrogant of us to believe we can stop it, or are even responsible for a lot of it. A lot of it is down to nature, a swing from the little ice age we are in to Eocene. There is a lot on this planet that is capable of affecting climate, from volcanos to the simple gaseous emissions of all the animals.
There are also arguments that pollution has slowed global warming - http://www.theaustralian.com.au/national-affairs/climate/man-made-pollution-reflects-sun/news-story/f0f3e3bd82e2f4dc92556e186da5abb7?sv=2787c030db2d2384ffd451d9623a1c7
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/earth/environment/climatechange/8159991/Global-warming-has-slowed-because-of-pollution.html
But of course I will be shot down for that one - the green lobby that has built a massive industry around global warming has too much invested to allow real scientific research into this.
Oh, and one other thing, he is ready and willing to sign a trade agreement with us. We do not want to lose everything we have built up with the US just because of the actions of one man. I know you probably do not want that to happen, you probably want the worst possible outcome for us on all fronts, but some of us believe in this country enough to actually live here, and I believe we will do well out of Brexit. If Corbyn gets in you will get your way, we would not Brexit and he will kowtow to everyone wanting us to bring in all the refugees in the world, he will spend money we haven't got and we will end up broke and still in the eu.
I for one would be happy to see an independent England in this case. What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -

There is no doubt in my opinion the Tories have done many things wrong (Tax cutting for the rich whilst at least saying your reducing government spending) but actually a policy changing a sex discrimination policy is not one of them.0 -
Jeremy was all for disarming police, after all he can just talk terrorists round.
He will welcome huge numbers of 'refugees' at every opportunity.
Putin will toy with him, sending planes into our airspace, once again a nice chat and cup of tea should resolve that...
Corbyn represents a very real danger0 -

They can't !!
Haven't you worked it out yet?
To address the deficit fully would require a full term of a political party making themselves completely unelectable for maybe a decade.
This is because they have spent years telling us all we can have our cake; eat it; and also sell the very same cake at a craft fair.
Hey, I could have addressed the deficit in 5 years from 2010 :
- I'd have reneged on all the expensive PS pensions
- I'd have legalised drugs and prostitution to generate revenue
- I'd imprison anyone who helped corporations adopt aggressive tax avoidance policy
- I'd have scrapped foreign aid, saving £11bn+ per annum.
I'd never be elected again !
So, all we get from politicians are soft soaping, and excuses when they fail on any targets.0 -
Theresa May must resign over 'security failures' that led to recent terror attacks, says David Cameron's former policy guru“Should be resigning not seeking re-election.”
