Labour will have to go for it. They'll be bricking it but the silver lining for them is that a big defeat will mean the end of Corbyn.0

Abstaining has its downsides.
The PM asks the Commons a question; should there be a GE on the 8th June? 'Don't know' isn't much of an answer from a party that aspires to government.:)0 -

That's a good point, now that I come to think of it.
Something like two-thirds of the PLP are eager to kiss Corbyn goodbye. They might well back the motion irrespective of what Corbyn decides to do:).0 -

Labour wont abstain, there will be a GE0 -

That would take time. The GE would not be on 8 June.
Besides, the BBC is now reporting that Jeremy Corbyn has said that "I welcome the Prime Minister's decision to give the British people the chance to vote for a government that will put the interests of the majority first" and that Labour will vote for the motion.

Why would Corbyn resign? Kinnock didn't in 1987.
He is an old man, if he loses this one which looks likely would he really stay to fight a second election at the age of 73 in the hope of governing until he is 78?0 -
IMHO the SNP will lose at least some seats in Scotland.
Unless Nic changes tack & fast, they may find themselves losing quite a few.
It's hard to imagine labour abstaining or doing other than accepting the election; back in December Jezza said he would support a vote to dissolve parliament.
Also it is said that May has "already applied pressure on other parties to agree to the poll."
