Doesn't look very fuel efficient for such a light small engined car. 20 pounds = 100 miles is about 26 mpg.
I nearly get the same mpg but I drive a big automatic car, 2.4 litre engine with the climate control and heated leather seats!
Oh yeah .. what cars that then ?

Cars ownership is expensive regardless of what you have, and so I'd rather pay a bit more and have a car that I truly like and enjoy, than be paying for something I don't like. Its really that simple.

Why does it look funny as it just shows how astute they are when buying the weekly/monthly shop as it actually sounds like you have a smell under your nose as you wouldn't dare be seen in one of those.

I can imagine people like you coming out of M&S with your nose high in the air thinking look at me everyone how good am I.:rotfl::rotfl:

Im one of the original s cheap shoppers...
NETTO, was king, they hsd famous names cheaper than lidle and aldi...
But asda bought them over  too much of a threat.
My mate works in a packing factory and said m and s luxury pre packed meals are the same as morrisons. But morrisons are cheaper.
No curtians and kippers here matey.

Just kippers, but im canny :p

I averaged 26mpg in a 10 year old 2.5 litre AWD Jaguar X-Type, so I can certainly see it being possible in a modern FWD 2.4 auto.

engine size doesn't have as much to do with economy as you'd expect.

For some people a car is not just a way of getting around, it is fun, enjoyment, pleasure and a hobby all at the same time. I love houses and spend far too much renovating them. My partner can not see the difference between a butler sink and a B&Q special. I can. I love oil paintings and again can spend far too much on one. He can not see any difference.

Equally he likes cars. Loves cars. Spending silly amounts on them. IMO I think that if that is how someone gets their pleasure and they are not hurting anyone, why not?

OP I know that you do not see the charm or attraction in cars but you must see the pleasure / indulgence in something. You don't like spending on cars because for you they have no value. Just because you can not see the value doesn't mean that it there is none.
Happiness, Health and Wealth in that order please!:A

Probably one of several dozens of possibilities.
currently own a 2ltr BMW 3 series convertible (E93). Heated leather seats, comfortable and great fun to drive. Mainly short trips in it at the moment though (or when its a bit of a longer trip i certainly dont drive with economy in mind) and the long term fuel economy is just over 28mpg.

While not great when you compare that to the 1.1 Hyundai doing 26mpg and i know which i would rather be driving.

To be fair I usually see it, as I also go in at about 1/8th of a tank and put in £50+ (because I'd rather visit as infrequently as possible), the meter before me is normally for a round £5/10, and there's usually cars that arrive after me leaving first.

And you see the £80,000 car driving off from the pump?

To me, a Ferrari driver always looks like a bit of a knob.
If a Ferrari were the same price as a Corsa, I'd choose a Ferrari every day of the week for life. It's a thing of great beauty.

As for supermarkets, I live in a land where two supermarkets have a stranglehold on the market (Co-Op & Migros), and the latter doesn't even sell alcohol, so I happily walk that extra mile for Aldi and Lidl.

My OH once owned 23 cars, including 16 Alfa Romeos, at the same time. Now, he doesn't even have a car. I'm very relieved because I don't think I would have too coped well if we'd been together at that point in his life. I mean...23 cars is just stupidly obsessive. :D

If I had the money I would build a kit car, lotus 7 type thing. That's the dream. I suspect the OP would prefer their corsa. lol
