no, i wouldnt flip out again. i think i have learnt my lesson. i would not even want the day off work unless it was for a really close family funeral or my potential wedding but i would not flip out
But sadly they don't know that.
Move on from it, maybe see if a local McDonald's is hiring if you want that type of service job. They're always coming up. Subway could be good too.0 -
the nearest McDonald's is about 5 miles away from where live plus a friend works there so i wouldnt want to work there. Subway is so small they don't have any vacancies.0

Well what you should have said is 'unfortunately I cannot cancel my holiday but please keep me in mind for future vacancies or if you can work around my need for unpaid leave'
I know this is too late now but you have to look past it and try for something else as your bridges may well be burnt and there is no point dwelling on it0 -
i know i should have done that, and i feel so stupid that i didnt0

If you did this, though, you had better be specific about what the factors were and how you would handle the situation at work on a day to day basis.Don't trust a forum for advice. A volatile member of a team can easily upset the running of a well managed unit. Also the applicant has acted in a stupid manner so who is to say it would not happen again i.e the applicants day off is changed because of business needs. My advice is learn from this outburst and try somewhere else. Good luck!
PS. To me you are definitely not ready for a customer facing role.0 -
It's not a question of being stupid. People with autism often simply can't control themselves in the heat of the moment. But this does mean that jobs with unpredictable situations may not be suitable. It's a matter of capability, not intelligence. My advice to the OP would be to think about jobs he would enjoy doing where he is less likely to be put in situations where he might 'flip out'; and to practice reacting appropriately to possible scenarios - I hope the support he has is helping him work on this.0

First and foremost you need to:
1. Go to Gamblers Anonymous (if you are ready to quit).
2. Go to your GP and see if they can help you with your depression/autism (even autistic people shouldn't react like that in the face of setbacks!)
If you nail the above two then the job searching is a piece of pie!
As for jobs in Oswestry, I have just done a google maps search and can see that you have a number of employers nearby who offer entry level work:
Sports Direct
Prezzo
Halifax
The Wilfred Owen
Townhouse Oswestry
M+S
Argos
Iceland
Sainsburys
Morrisons
The COOP food
Oswestry market
Penda Retail Park
Natwest Bank
Greggs
Subway
Though the KFC seems to be in Mill End? There are a few more shops round there:
Starbucks
Burger King
Little Chef
Screwfix
PRemier Inn
Knights Warehouse
Travel lodge
Soooo, seems like you have a busy Tuesday afternoon ahead of you?Sod Indeed, go onto the main website for EVERY ONE of the above companies and get some job applications in!

Holidays can be stressful. Do you have some coping mechanisms for if you feel challenged or upset? If people are not aware of your difficulties and you act out they may well call the police.
It's great that you're trying to be more independent, but the steps you take need to be realistic and manageable.
Have you looked at supported employment, possibly a training scheme? We have a cafe nearby that is staffed by students who have learning difficulties. It is a way for them to develop skills in a more protected environment.0
