feel so stupid

Hi, i am 24 years old with autism and i am depressed. I am getting help but i feel so stupid. I applied for a part time job in KFC because i have lost quite a bit of my money by gambaling and being silly.

I almost got the job but they said i won't be able to go on the holiday i pre booked. I flipped out and said how they were a terrible company and how i would never work for them and swore a few times and said i should have my head tested to want to work here in the first place.

I feel so stupid because it could have been a good place and is the only company that almost gave me a chance, do you think if i say sorry they might hire me

They might, yes, if you explained that a mix of factors gave you an autistic meltdown and that was what caused the problem. If you did this, though, you had better be specific about what the factors were and how you would handle the situation at work on a day to day basis.

No. I think you're done with KFC.

If you flip out that easily then you are probably not ready for entering the workforce.

You say you're getting help - speak to your support about what happened and also about the gambling; it's important they know what happened so they can help you.

    Good luck.

I have to agree with Tiddlywinks view of the situation. I can certainly understand you being annoyed over the holiday situation, but the over reaction does suggest that you might not yet be ready for the pressures of a work place.
  • Concentrate your efforts elsewhere really.

    You never swear in hospitality.

I have a job and shall be in this for 6 months before I really do have the viable opportunity to take holiday.

Swearing and shouting at your potential employer is not acceptable, apologising will do no harm but i think first impressions do last and they will remember how easily you got worked up

I think firstly think about a job you want to do....do you like gardening? then choose a part time job at a garden centre, do you like DIY then try B&Q or Wickes, do you like chatting to people then choose something where you're not stuck behind a till all day.... someone will give you a chance it just takes time

In order to deal with your depression and money problems the best thing to do is be positive and make sure you're applying for jobs you will likely 'enjoy' doing, work is work but if its better suited to you the more you will find it less of a grind. As you start to earn money then your money problems will lessen and so will your depression.....you've just got to stay positive and pushing forward

When someone is positive and happy it becomes infectious and the people around you will react in similar way....

Honestly no. They won't hire you now.

Yes I understand that there was circumstances that led to the meltdown, but those circumstances, and worse, will occur throughout your working life.

You want a day off when you're normally due to work. Are you going to flip out and swear if they won't swap your shift?

You need an early finish as a favour and ask a colleague to cover your shift? Will you flip out if they can't do it?
