How's it going in the new flat AC?Debt free and Keeping on Track0

Hello mrs. P
Well, boxes everywhere still . Last night was the best sleep I've had for months . I took a chance with disposing of picture frames / cardboard box and paper. I made sure I dismantled picture frame and put the glass vertically against the wall as tidy as poss . Unfortunately the cardboard box had to be put ontop of the recycling and rubbish bins due to them being filled to the brim . This was all done around 7.30 this morning .
It meant I could put the hifi cabinet into the small room and out of the hallway . It was getting on my nerves where it was for almost a week.
I then thought I'd test the new washing machine following the instructions which are straightforward enough. Over three hours later. Not impressed.
When you do the first 'wash', you're supposed to do it empty . No problem
Three hours?!? Why it took so long was because the machine has a safeguard and something to do with water pressure.
I'll wash a few bits tomorrow , and see what gives.
Eventually I went to branksome and had a look at storage solutions etc .
Years ago , I saw something in John Lewis . It was a tall vertical mirror .
The door opened and there was room for a pair of shoes , a couple of clothes to be hanged or hung etc. Unfortunately I never had the cash to buy it back then. It would be perfect if I could get something like that now.
I aim to tackle the small room and make it easier to walk in and out .
It looks like the main stuff that's taking all the room in there is box files , box files and more box files . That's one of the bad things I find when you live your financial life with your head in the sand . It also happens when you're in a rut when you may or may not realise it . When the flat is properly sorted , I will tackle a few of those boxes daily .
It's great to be reunited with my green leather furniture once again .
That bouncy castle that I was sitting on for 6 months was just not fit for purpose. I had a lovely shower in my flat for the first time. Probably have a bath either tonight or tomorrow night. What I'm trying to phathom out, is how the water is hot automatically when I turn on the taps.
I haven't touched the boiler at all. Odd .
I love the flat the more I look at it . Now when I get rid of the clutter .,,:)
Forgot to mention : I posted on the in my home thread. It looks very much that the tv should go on the wall and the turntable will go on the shelving unit . Job done.
Have to see if james can do it for me . He's back sometime during the upcoming week.0 -

It is important that we know where we come from, because if you do not know where you come from, then you do not know where you are, and if you don't know where you are, then you don't know where you are going. If you don't know where you're going, you're probably going wrong.

Hi AC - Sounds like you are looking for a tall narrow cupboard with a mirror front and storage room. I recall an IKEA mirror on a turntable which enables the mirror to be swivelled around and access gained to storage behind. Worth a look in the IKEA website.
Automatic hot water sounds like a combination boiler - it kicks in and heats water on demand instead of heating water to be stored in a hot water tank in case you need it. Heating on demand is much the best system for a single person if you can cope without an airing cupboard containing a hot water tank.John0 -

.
My block has a communal hot water system that provides instant hot water to all the flats, its charges separately from the water and electricity bills so may be something like that? Did you get a pack about utilities when you bought the place?0 -
Thanks folks
I got some paraphernalia from the letting agents . It may be in there .
I know it's stating the obvious but the heating isn't on . I assume It's not gonna function until I turn the rads on0 -
Heating
There is likely to be a thermostat somewhere in the apartment which you can set the heating times onJohn0 -
Just looking at the latest incidents . I used to,live in the borough for many years . Many times walkingnover the bridge on the way home in a merry state.
My brother was on his way home from night work at Westminster .
Around 5.45 a m while waiting for his tube train , a young man possibly Eastern European around 20-25 looked spaced out
He walked infront of the train . The driver stopped in time .
Passengers pulled him up and his arm was bruised heavily obviously .
My favourite live band rammstein had to cancel their live headline slot at a festival in Germany yesterday .
As I haven't been back to,london , I do wonder if it's worth bothering about the Metallica gig at the o2 in oct.
I may cancel .0 -
Shocking news.
It must really resonate with you. I know you and your brother don't always see eye to eye but at least you know he's safe.0 -

I wouldn't cancel going to a gig... especially Metallica (their current album is a true return to classic form)
These "attacks" are done to cause fear and disruption. Not going to a gig or event that you have been looking forward to and paid for out of fear of a possible attack is effectively letting them win without them doing anything...
Love the Rammers too, seen them 4 timesBUGGRITMILLENIUMHANDANDSHRIMP I TOLD EM! - Foul Ole Ron
