North East, £19 per month on water meter, 2 adults washer/dryer, dishwasher and sundry use showers/toilets/watering plants/cooking/cuppas etc.0

East Midlands £23 (Severn Trent) baths and showers, occasional hosepipe for garden,, dishwasher, washnng machine.
I did read somewhere that the southwest had the highest charges for water.
Well I have worked like a demon, bedroom painting done....just got to sort out the accessories, lighting etc.
Looks nice today so am aIming to tackle the garden. Shall be going away for a few days in a couple of weeks so want to get on top of the garden before I go away.0 -
North Down - Water Rates integral with Household Rates - we never progressed to Council Tax.
Current Inclusive Rates for 3 bedroom small detached house in coastal town pretty affluent £900.
Now before you all decide to be very MSE and move to this very socially backward corner of the UK let me warn you there is no 25% discount for single occupants. The only discount available to all householders is 6% off if you pay the whole whack upfront and avoid the 10 monthly instalments. I will also be eligible for a small discount (10%) I think if I reach the grand old age of 75.
There are some advantages to living here but I would swop it to be back in England if I only could!John0 -
Wow, I thought our water was a little bit expensive but not too bad ... now I feel a bit ripped off! (1 bed flat, 2 adults, no garden so no fishpond, plants or car washing). The bill did go down recently though, it used to be £38 a month.0

Wow, £90 a month for rates AND water is still really cheap! Many people would pay more than that just for council tax, even with the 25% discount.0

Well, I suppose this is the nearest we get to watergate .
I'm a little angry and confused today . Just on my way out the door to the gym. I see a redirected letter from Bt . Now bear in mind, I've had my post redirected since November when I moved out .
This letter was from the debt recovery unit .Final Reminder you still haven't paid your bill. You still owe us £35.11 blah blah blah .
I'm now being threatened It's being passed t.o a debt collection agency etc. The letter is dated 26 July .
Do I phone them and make a rod off my own back, or ignore ??
I'll have to think0 -
Don't ignore AC. Those days are past.
Do you owe BT £35.11 is the crux of the matter? Is this from Twickenham or the rented flat in Poole? If you owe it then ring or email, explain you have moved and the correspondence was not forwarded and pay up. If you don't owe it then query and ask them to look into it. It is not rocket science.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. Thank you enthusiastic . It is rocket science to them .
I paid up, and let them know etc. So I was all square.
The annoying thing is I get redirected mail, so this final reminder is a crock . Yes I'll phone them and ask for their proof .
Will report back0 -
Apparently they sent out a letter which I never received . This letter was only the 2nd sent out . It was a final warning because of the amount of time the bill was owing .
They say the bill was for cancelling the broadband and phone . Annoying ,as when I phoned I asked if I'm all square . Delighted to have left them . Case closed0 -
Glad you are all sorted. BT is expensive. I use them at the flat I am selling (family second home) and shall be glad to be shot of them. We use Virgin Media at home for internet/landline although I pay landline annually as cheaper. Internet is quite expensive through virgin media but we are on super fast broadband.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards.
