I love empty box files. Very therapeutic. I am in the midst of sorting my pension one out as retiring in just over 5 months time. Also selling a property so that one is being scanned and all the deeds sent to solicitor.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. Thanks mrs.p
it's a project that needs peace, quiet and patience.
Plus of course you've got to be in the mood to do it :rotfl:
You have 2 great things to look forward to enthusiastic :j
Cool!
One thing I do know in future ..keep your head out of the sand !!
The rubbish I was sticking in the boxes ' for when I get round to it,'
is absolute madness . Phone bills / mobile bills/ bank statements /credit card statements ..you get the picture .
I was a lot busier back then , workwise and socially . Then of course the upheaval of my brother and his boss . As I say, looking back , I think the flat was solely in use by me for a little over 50% of the time in total .
I was always a worrier to a point , and kept lots of tosh in case something isn't right .
A bit nostalgic at times believe it or not
I was going to take out a critical illness policy 11 years ago.
I was the fittest I've ever bern . I got declined. I made urgent appointment to my doctor at the time . I passed with flying colours, but Scottish power/ abbeylife got their files mixed up. Then they wonder why I cancel . Obviously , I'm wiser now
Shredded.
My friend gave me an call today ..
My friend who is a mgt accountant has taken a job ( contract to begin with). Hates it . In his dept , they are employing a person Who is bordeline manic depressive . He has episodes . My friend gave me an example of the guy smashing a whole punch over his head. Blood everywhere . He should really be sectioned but h r ignore all the concerns of the staff. Then you look at my situation : final written warning suspended for 2 years for standing mynground when being bullied by my boss who is h r . You just cannot make it up.
I had great fun , throwing away lots of paperwork from that place today
Gotta stop waffling :rotfl:0 -
I think you are finding this therapeutic too. It is all too easy for us all to ignore warnings about our finances, our health, our jobs until something tips us over the edge. No point in looking back though only forward. You have left the job, sorted out your finances and now it is time to address your health which you are hopefully doing. A great lesson you have learned there. Keep your head firmly out of the sand and tackle the little problems before they become big ones.

Just a suggestion of what to keep.
One years bills to compare in case you decide to change suppliers.
Any tax stuff for 6 years. P45s/P60s.
Last years pension statements and insurance policies/renewals.
Latest credit card statements/savings accounts/bank statements.
Current contracts for mobiles or anything you have signed up for and is still current.
I also have a box files for manuals, guarantees and staple the receipts for the big stuff or electronic gadgets.
Paperwork for the purchase of your flat in Poole and sale of your place in Twickenham just in case any queries in next year.
I have gone paperless for most bills and bank statements now so that might be something to consider.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. Thanks enthusiastic.
My friends job. .. he is on contract so can quit in Sept .
I think the purge on the paperwork combined with the phone call , made me ramble somewhat . Sorry :rotfl:
I'm one of those people who always say ' this time next year ..' etc
I'm not really one to be looking back .
I'm paperless on Vodafone / edf etc .
Thanks for the helpful advice on what to keep .
Yes, I will be scaling everything down . Time permitted , when settled I could scan the later bank statements etc and bin them also .
Thanks0 -
Keep all receipts for anything of value for insurance purposes, just in case. If you have destroyed or lost them then take photos of the item.0

Thanks LL;)
So today, I did another gym session ,plus walk .
I gave meter readings to Wessex water and edf. Edf sent a letter to my old address for some reason , so I politely told them off .
I'm in credit for everything at the moment . I asked for the Dd from edf to stay at £50 each for gas and electric (£100 total), as i don't like nasty surprises. Apperently, my water usage is quite high, but shouldn't be . I'm in credit for mow, but I'm paying £53 approx direct debit. On a water meter. Apparently the bill is supposed to be more than Thames water because I live by the sea ( according to my friend and his wife). I was paying over £40 when with Thames water . I wasn't on a meter though . Like anything else, I'll keep quiet and pay
Btw: Apparently bills from thames water will rocket , as there are projects that need to be done ..and paid for . My friend was telling me
Don't know when it'll happen . Not my problem0 -
Water usage does sound on the high side for a flat, mine is £33 a month (2 of us in a 1 bed flat), hopefully yours will go down a bit after giving meter readings.0

We are in the southwest and our water bill is horrendous - we moved from south east London about 15 years ago and the only bill that didn't go down was the water one and that increased. All other bills much lower insurance, council tax etc., We can't have everything
We pay £41 per month and that is for 3 adults - including one 21 year old who seems to spend forever in the shower!
Debt free and Keeping on Track0 -
We live in the south west and pay £55 per month:(
That is on a water meter, 2 adults but we do have two cars, a garden and a fishpond. We try and economise and have water saving dishwasher and washing machine but still high.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards.
