    A bit of a Rant ...............

I swopped to GNE in April following a MSE news letter.  Quite happily supplied monthly readings and their specific one on 26th July (they have a a 3 month regime) and duly billed .

Come September and they have an acknowledged IT issue and I am unable to enter the reading date.  Supplied readings and all OK and the reading appeared on their portal.

Come October and the same issue - GNE respond that it's my fault as I'm using Edge as my browser and could I swop to Chrome please.   However they do update the reading on their portal.

As part of the swop there was a MSE promise to help if there were any issues - emailed MSE and await a response.

    Hi Robin9,

We are currently experiencing an error where some customers will not be able to view the option to select a date when entering a reading and sincerely apologise that you have been affected by this. We are working hard to resolve the issue but, in the meantime, one of the below options should fix the problem for you:

      • Try switching to a different browser
      • Try logging out of your account, clearing the cache in your browser and logging back in
      • Download our app from the Play Store or Apple Store where this issue is not occurring

If these steps do not work or you need assistance, please contact us and a member of our Customer Care team will be happy to help.

Kind regards, Jon - GNE Social Media Team

They've been in credit default with Elexon for a few days now as well - looks like they're going to go bust. I'd advise to download all of your bills if you haven't done so already and take a reading once it's confirmed by Ofgem.

Yeah I know if you have the direct link that you can get a quote - I mean that if you go to the actual homepage there isn't an option to follow through to get a quote. Also for the first time since 2017, they don't have any fixed tariffs on comparison websites and they deleted their twitter profile.

I'm just trying to give people a heads up that, as for now you're probably best off not initiating a switch and to download any bills if they store them online.

What do you advise people who are in process of a switch to GNE?

Have received  the obligatory notification to say there are further comments on this (quite lengthy) topic.
As usual there's plenty of people anxious to come on and complain - and a few who just wanted to say they're getting on OK with Green Network Energy.
My standpoint happens to be that I get billed regularly as per my expectation, I pay the bills on time (by DD) and I get gas out my pipes when I turn the cooker on and electricity when I turn the lights on.  I haven't had to ring them for ages, and when I did they answered the phone. My Direct debit isn't outrageous and they did actually reduce it recently without my asking them to.

I don't do Twitter or Facebook but if those that do think it's an ominous sign that the account is discontinued then I'll take note and look out for signs that there's a problem of some sort in the offing.
I did download a hard copy of my bill and did take a meter reading (and submitted them just a moment ago without issue).
If we're expecting Armageddon then I'll keep an eye open for it but in the meantime I shall carry on and keep calm.

I personally would cancel the switch, however until anything is confirmed it's all speculation and predictions based on what's been happening the past week with them. If they go bust mid-switch then I would expect the switch to be automatically cancelled and you will remain with your current supplier. However I've not been in this position before so I'm unsure if that's definitely the case.

If the tariff you're due to switch to is cheaper than anything else you can get, then as long as you don't mind potentially going through the Supplier of Last Resort process, then you may as well go through with it and hope they sort out their finances. If the switch completes but they then go through the SoLR process then you'd likely end up with a 'price cap' tariff with the new supplier.

If you can get a cheaper tariff from a different supplier (or separate suppliers for Elec and Gas) then it may be worth cancelling the switch and then switching with someone else.

Thanks very much for your detailed reply, i signed up for gas only switch via GNE referral credit link which is due to be completed Feb 2nd, is there any chance i''ll get the referral credit if the gas switch goes through? I'm currently with Octopus on both electricity and gas.

I managed to get a (very uncompetitive) quotation after going to the homepage, although I had to go via the Site Map.  I agree it's a bit unhelpful, although so is London Power who seem to hide their best tariffs.
