Welcome, MrsLWW, those frozen lemon slices do the job of ice cubes too if you drop them in still frozen! They're also really, really easy to juice for cooking if you defrost them in the microwave I've found
Make £25 a day in April £0/£750 (March £584, February £602, January £883.66)
December £361.54, November £322.28, October £288.52, September £374.30, August £223.95, July £71.45, June £251.22, May£119.33, April £236.24, March £106.74, Feb £40.99, Jan £98.54) Total for 2017 - £2,495.100 -
Thanks FV, I use them as icecubes in drinks when we have guests, but never thought of using them for juice - will defo try that one!
Other ice tricks are use up left over juice/fizzy juice by popping it in an ice cube tray and freezing it so it does't dilute your drink.
I also have reusable icecubes for wine, but someone once told me frozen grapes are good for that too!Debt peak approx £30,000  now debt free!!! :j
My parents always said "If you can't afford it cash, you can't afford it!" so true!.... mind you, turns out we can't afford much lol :rotfl:0 -
Sounds like the party is round at yours then, MrsLWW

Morning
hello MrsLWW & welcome
sounds like you're determined
argh woke up at 5.30 again today  tis weird waking up since the clocks went forward as it's back to being dark when I wake up and for ages! When dawn breaks I'm going to go to the allotment for an hour before oh goes to work to tidy up a bit. I left it in a real mess yesterday after spreading the manure as was feeling so ghastly (honestly this is about the 5th time I have been ill this year!
) done! dug around in my compost heap and discovered mounds of lovely rich compost under the top layer :T dug out 3 wheelbarrow loads and spread over 1/2 the no dig bed I covered with manure yesterday. Jeeze it felt good doing some exercise first thing in the morning! dug out a few shoots of maretail that had germinated eurgh I hate this weed! Hopefully when ds is here we'll go back there for an hour and finish this off and tidy up a bit more :money:
Due to poorliness I didn't do very much at all yesterday
Hopefully feeling a bit better today...
Plans for today include:
* checked banking & received £30 cashback for changing energy suppliers
have squirrelled it across to the xmas food fund which now stands at £50 :T which is probably more than I spent extra on food for the week last year
* do money shuffle
* all meals from stores - ds coming for dinner tonight so doing roast lamb. Need to check what veg I have in and get some if not enough
* possibly ds is going to come to the allotment and do some digging although not overly hopeful at this point....
* watching Beauty & the Beast with madam this morning when I get back (obvs the old version)
* take the train to ballet this afternoon as oh still has my car. He's in for a rude shock tomorrow when i take my car back!
* flylady
* email a photo of packet of turnip seeds to supplier I purchased them from as the packet is supposed to be 100 seeds and I've counted them and there's about 30!
* clothes/bags/lunches ready for tomorrow
* share bathwater tonight with madam in prep for tomorrow
ok that's all I think! Happy days guys xDF as at 30/12/16

Morning all :hello: hope you're feeling better determined do you know what's causing your bouts of illness. Is it your body telling you to slow down ? Take care of yourself. Have you tried a multivitamin drink like borocca (I think that's how you spell it - but we have own label ones for DH
) he has been using them for about 6 months and has really noticed the difference.
Well, I was rudely awoken by the cat ejecting a fur ball. Trouble was he was on my bed  ejected him quick but not quick enough. So need to strip bed before work and remake so DH can go back to bed from night shift when he's home.
I will also:
Check banking surveys and FPL. 5p away from payout on 1poll so probably won't get any surveys for weeks. Been screened out last 2 days
HM soup to work, plus some fruit for snacks
Took a ys almond croissant out of freezer for sweet treat this afternoon but then remembered I made bread pudding last night so put croissant back and will take slice of pudding instead
Blitz beetroot so I can make chocolate and beetroot cake tonight
Make kale pesto if I have time before work again so I don't have to use blender tonight whilst DH is in bed
Hot drink for commute
Hang washing done overnight on line and second load I sneaked on on cheap (thanks cat :rotfl: silver linings and all that)
Something out of freezer for tea
Right, back later. Purps.

Morning all

Woke up to fog this morning, but hopefully it will clear and be warmer than yesterday!
Today's list:
HG freezer fruit for breakfast instead of bought fresh
Fold yesterday's dry washing and put in airing cupboard
Dog walks
Peg more washing out if fog goes
Continue to sort / clean spare room and ensuite. DS is rarely here now, but all his stuff is
I will put it away at least, so that I can use the room for guests if need be! It needs a good clean, too.
Sort out large containers / pots in garden, put aside those I need for tomatoes, courgettes, cucumber, and work out what I can grow in the others
Ebay item to pack and post (or 2 if the other buyer pays up in time)
Bit of paperwork for business
Lidls ham joint to cook for dinner (and tomorrow's dinner, and sandwiches etc, might freeze some)
Any surveys - I am getting close to payout on onepoll, so surveys are getting scarcer
More coffee needed before I start that lot I think!0 -

Perps (still loving your nickname btw
) I really don't know what's causing it. Being a hypochondriac I am convinced there is some lurking deathly illness that is the cause but in all likelihood it's probably just madam at the childminders spreading germs!
Good idea re vit c tabs. I'll put them on the shopping list and report back. Feeling fine today - generally have a a strong immune system so although I keep getting virus' they are gone by the 3rd day. If oh catches them he'll be ill at least a week!DF as at 30/12/16

Thanks for the welcome everyone :hello:
Determined, I'm much the same as you regards immunity, this year the cold virus has been particularly vicious/weird (paramedic here so seen alot of it) it seems to have flu-like symptoms to it (aches, sweats, chesty cough etc) and seems to remain in the system and almost reinfect for a few weeks. I did a bit of research and it's believed this years cold is an adenovirus which basically goes in deeper than the usual cold viruses (rhinovirus) which sit in the nose and throat area. But same treatment paracetamol, brufen (SM own brand - please don't buy expensive brands), if your nose is running then an anti-histamine to dry it up (although the benefits of taking an anti-histamine daily when you have a cold have been proven - just no one really knows why exactly) I also recommend lemonade in a mug for 30 seconds in the microwave, add a teaspoon of honey and a slice of lemon - very soothing and my mum's old recipe (mammy is a nurse).
I also sympathise regards the DH - mine is exactly the same, not because he has a weak immune system mind you, just because he's a total hypochondriac - he spent most of yesterday and last night passing wind (he had had Brussels sprouts the night before) and has now convinced himself he must have bowel cancer or something similar because he can't stop passing wind :rotfl: obviously with the job I do, you can imagine how sympathetic I am :wall:
Well I suppose it's time to shake a tailfeather and finish off the kitchen, aiming for another NSD.
:T
