PurpleFairy I do my best to avoid hand washing. We own a few things that are supposedly hand wash only I usually bung them in the machine on a delicate wash or wool wash or use the hand wash setting. I use ecover wool wash when washing delicate items as my normal powder wouldn't dissolve at low temperatures and I know ds's skin won't react.

FVD if you have an aldis or lidl near you they do some bottles of ale for about £1 per bottle.

Opps need to get my skates so! Had a rare day of not waking up in the middle of the night :)

hurrah we got a quote for doing our patio. It is considerably less than we thought it would be :j our garden has been a real labour of love and very expensive so we have had to do it in stages. 1st year we had an area decked, 2 years later lawn was laid. Now we're planning to have the patio laid. Thought it would be £2-3k but the builder has said £1k for part of it done or £1600 for the whole. This would be using sandstones that are broken up (I've seen a crazy paving style I think would go) but this would be for whole sandstones he would break up, so the stones would be £450 or £900. I've just used my mse ninja skills and found a supplier that sells broken sandstone pieces and for the whole amount the cost is £240 :D Need to nobble the build today to see what he thinks (he's my neighbour so shouldn't be too tricky ;) ) by the looks so it we can afford the whole area for the same price as the first quote :j

    anyway things for today:

*[STRIKE] make madam's lunch[/STRIKE]. Need to hurry time is slipping away!
    * [STRIKE]take oh & madam to work/cm's[/STRIKE] didn't bother decided I can put off manure for another day and oh can take my car saving me 1.5-2 hours of driving and the petrol ;) will use the time to do the big budget reconciliation instead ;) whoop just did reconciliation and what with reducing our gc spends down to poverty levels (! :p not really in reality we've ate very well but very frugally!) and no ct for 2 months we have an extra £440 in the kitty :T
    * going to go and collect 6 bags of chicken manure. Hope my car survives! postponed this as oh has the car. Have emailed allotment holder to see if I can use his trailer rather than putting it in my car. If not I'll bite the bullet and go over the weekend hurrah he came back to me and said yes :j
    * payday today so money shuffle - have been doing the £1 pd for xmas challenge and with today's transfer I have £121 in the pot plus £30 in the xmas food pot. This literally isn't far off what I spent last year!
    * [STRIKE]check on seeds for germination & water any that need it[/STRIKE]
*[STRIKE] check out wood in garage as want to build madam a raised bed at the allotment [/STRIKE] have enough to build the bed :D
    * go to the lottie this afternoon
    * [STRIKE]finish off tidying up the garden. Probably have an hour left to get it spick and span :D[/STRIKE]
    * all meals from stores
    * make pizza and dough balls for this evening
    * chop and freeze some gammon lo from the other day
*[STRIKE] clean out small food waste bin to start keep kitchen scraps for the worms :D[/STRIKE]
    *[STRIKE] flylady[/STRIKE]
*[STRIKE] list 3 things on fleabay.[/STRIKE] Encouraged by my sale yesterday :T thanks carrie!
    * games this evening. Will check grocery spends (still need to reconcile accounts!) as might be able to afford a bottle of wine :D

that'll do. Happy Friday guys :A

    Morning Campers,
Another pretty rubbish night's sleep but feel reasonably perky considering. On today's list:
*Clean whole house using minimal products & recycled cloths.
*Dinner is jacket potato/freezer dive night, so I'm having a lone portion of Quorn curry & mr f has dug out another lone container of slow cooker beef rogan josh.
    *Finish knitting mr f's socks.
    *Update grocery budget.
*Pay some spends across to CC (only used to maximise points for vouchers).
    *Make tomorrow's packed lunch.
*Wrap Dad's birthday presents (recycled gift bag & paper) & search recycled wrapping stash for pretty bag for Mum's little Sunday bits & pieces.
    *Water baby veggie seedlings.
*Pot up tomato & aubergine seedlings and cloche with cut-down plastic bottles.
*Free fitness clearing very weedy back of one of my big flower borders. Weigh-Day is next Friday, so that's one week left to reach the target I set myself of losing 5lbs this month. Clothes looser, but not sure I've quite done it yet so need to keep moving!
Ok, that's my 1st caffiene fix of the day. Let's get today started.
    Have a good one all.

  • foxgloves have you got things in your unheated greenhouse yet? If so what have you got in there? I'm running out of windowsill space!

    Hi all

Thank you so much for your comments and sympathy. It is so awful. DS spent last night in the fields until 3 trying to catch a fox that is taking a lamb a night. No success. I did 4.30 to 8.30 this morning and he is now back in shed. we just need a little bit of luck. Dog killing whilst DS there with gun, problem sorted forever-well until the next one. You are all quite right it is the owners not the dogs fault. Anyway I am going to focus on not thinking about it whilst at work.

Saturady between shed checks I aim to put my WIlk0s plant supports on my raspberries whilst they are still small enough to be able to see where they are but for me not to trample and damage them whilst staking. Having 2 geese is really lucky as I walk through the raspberry patch daily to lock them up and let them out. It is like a daily reminder of stuff to do.

    Sunny weekend ahead, bliss.

Have a great day everyone and keep up the money savings.

    Maria

    Hi DNMS,
Everything I've sown so far is in my unheated greenhouse EXCEPT:
    Aubergines
    Tomatoes
    Cucumbers
    Chillies
    Peppers
I am toughening up the above gradually. Chillies are cloched in unheated conservatory, covered with table cloth overnight. Cukes brought down from warmish upstairs windowsill & will be trying their 1st night in conservatory tonight. Am just off down greenhouse to pot up tomatoes & aubergines. Next stage will be all taken to greenhouse but still cloched & fleeced at night. Am a lot further north than you xx

interesting! I think maybe I'm slightly behind you in progress. But I have sown calabrese, sprouts, caulifowers, aubergines, tomatoes, peppers, basil & corriander - all inside. leeks, salad leaves & broadbeans germinated & are in the greenhouse. marigolds, sweet peas, carrots in greenhouse not germinated.

As I've grown them inside you think I'll need to take out gradually to get used to the colder weather?

oh my! the worms arrived today so have set up my wormery! so exciting
