O.S. daily thread Thurs 27/09

Options
Hi, this is the Daily Thread for27/09/07. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning Everyone

(((((hugs))))) to grannybroon you sound tired
((((hugs))))) to Pen Pin hope it's all getting better for you

well I've had another lousy night and not had much sleep due to aches from my joints but it was quite cold here yesterday and I think that might be the problem so I may have to put the heating on for a while today to see if that helps
I have the house to myself today as everyone is either at school college or work I have some washing and ironing to do and the bathroom needs a good deep clean as ds2 has done it the last two times

Good morning to MRS MIX - hope your aches go away. It is cold, isn't it? I've just put the heating on. The cold weather always seems to take me by surprise.

(((hugs))) to MEANMARIE and all who need them, especially those who have been ill. Didn't get much time on here yesterday - don't know where my time goes. I need thirty-hour days and ten-day weeks, I think.

Plan today is to do the weekly shop - we're away at my mum's tomorrow night (it's her birthday) and I know I won't feel like shopping for food when we come back on Saturday so it'll be nice to get it out of the way today. I need to make her birthday cake and wrap her presents up. I also have a small pile of ironing and, yet again, I have vowed to keep the pile down by ironing more often. It's such a boring job, isn't it?
I've more or less finished organising the spare room ready for the mass Christmas wrapping marathon. DH thinks I'm mad to be thinking about it so early but there's nothing like being prepared!

I have enjoyed Hester's blog - she should be writing for television. Very entertaining!

Well, I suppose I ought to get my shopping list done - I'm trying to get out early this morning so I must resist the urge to stay on here.

Hope everyone has a good morning. Will drop in later.

last night i made twice baked jackets with corn on the cob. my little girl was so disappointed. she said , but i need sausges , chips and beans. bless. so i changed meal planner and were having that tonight.

Morning all, been awake since 3:15 but given that a) this house is freezing & b)everyone was setteled(for that read cats:rotfl: )decided to stay where I was. Yesterday DH went to launderette, I wanted to make some bread from scratch as I can't easily get to BM at mo(DH sorting out shed and has put the "good stuff into the understair storage which is outside the actual house and VERY useful IYSWIM) BUT..... house is so cold thought Imay have some problems wiht the fresh yeast. Made soda bread instead which always makes me think about my mum. Today, well it depends, I may be going to the funeral of the son of my former cleaner(another world ago- younger, single, exceedingly busy and not permantly broke!) Depends on how morning pans out. DH has an appointment at hospital os not 100%sure.
Had some sad news yesterday(3rd hand) Nephew has secondary (inoperable) tumors. He is the son of my half sister, as many of you know we have no contact other than a very stilted christmas card(and thats only in the last couple of years) I may write but not entirely sure that it is approproate(SP)
My half sister is a lot older than me(17 years ) and its VERY complicated. The only positive thing to come out of the situation is htat when he was diaginosed with the initial cancer(testicular) his brother got himself checked out and was found to be in the very early stages of the same condition. Thankfuly he is now totally clear. Currently I have 5 cats(the boys and Lucy) all in the living room looking hopefully at the fire (Phoebe )is in bed (as is loonie Annie) bon chance gang!:rotfl:
I hope that you all have a fab day.HUGS to all

    Kyle another day nearer!!:j
    Donny-gal look after the foot.

  • morning

Haven't been out yet, but DH is scraping the ice off his car windows, so have an idea what to expect :o

Really must start packing today, I don't think I've ever left it this late, we go a week on Saturday  Also, have to take the cat for her booster, and last time she bit the nurse, so wish me luck.

Chicken for dinner and I have some leeks that need using, so will consult the BBC food website for inspiration

Hugs :grouphug: to everyone, have a good day x

  • Morning Guys!

Yesterday was the most difficult day in my life. I am glad that its over with and can focus on Saturday, where we should have a good laugh.

I have hospital visits today and tomorrow and the nurse is due out for the next 3 mornings at 7am. Still not feeling good, but I need to get out today, so before we take DD to school, I think we will go for a coffee at a nice place we know. She doesnt have to be in till 9.30 as she helped with the possible new parents evening last night.

I have managed to sell a further 6 books on Amazon and have added another 12 books to sell. I have also sold 4 items on Ebay, so money wise we have done well this week.

Beds will be stripped soon, WM on, DW on and the cleaners are here this morning, so will stay out the way till they are gone.

Sister and her kids are still at folks house as he is not moving out till the weekend. She has seen a solicitor and they have agreed 40k (my sis) and 25k(bil)...plus £200 pcm for CSA for 1 of the kids. Fingers x'd it will all go ok. She is dreading the wedding on saturday as she wont have a partner...but Im sure there will be many hunky blokes there! Shes only 30 and not bad looking...so she will be fine:rotfl:

Anyway, I have to go and have a shower.

    Hugs to all.

  • Good morning everyone

Woke up very early - was having a not-very-nice dream about DD and I being stranded in Paris with a very creepy bus driver. So, I got up and made myself useful. Lunch is made, dishes are washed and I'm just about to do some exercise before I hit the shower.

(((hugs))) to mrs mix, donny-gal, meanmarie, grannybroon, catowen, pen-pin, smoky and anyone else I have forgotten to mention. It's not deliberate.

anniestar so sorry for not mentioning you and your poor DNephew. What awful news. (((hugs))) Why not write to your nephew rather than your half-sister? You can always mention her in the letter and ask him to pass on your regards to all.

Shez, how is the car? Don't remember reading an update.
frogga and mrs mcawber :hello: haven't managed to read the OS Weight Loss thread but will do it soon and maybe even manage to post! Hope you are both doing well. FBThree how are you doing too? Haven't seen you post for a while.

DD is having a mini steak pie with mash and lots of broccoli for dinner today. DS and I are having stir-fry so must remember to go and get the chicken out of the freezer.

Think Dd will ask to stay with me tonight as she has been getting shouted at by XDH this week and is fed up with it now. Doesn't surprise me. He has absolutely no patience and flies off the handle without too much persuasion. Will have a quiet word with him as I don't think he even realises how much he is upsetting her. That will be fun as he doesn't handle criticism well either. (Not painting a very good picture here am I?)

Off to get that exercise done now. Have a thrilling Thursday. xx
