The problem with that would be this
How many people would just sit in the 'challenge sub-page' all day. I know that loads of advice gives passed around on those threads and new people would miss out on it.
Even if they don't post, just reading can help sometimes.Current debt - £16,300Debt at worst 17/03/2011 - £18,067.62:eek::eek::ANot going anywhere else, ever again :A0 -
I'm a newbie, and tend to worry about posting on people's diaries. I don't want to hijack anyone's personal area. But sometimes I feel that my small voice won't be heard (seen) on the main board. I guess I'm just a little nervous around here still.Nobody I'd rather be0

I always feel that when people feel passionately about something, things can get emotional and personal, and I feel (rightly or wrongly) that people who disagree vehemently might not like each other quite so much any more.
(which makes me want to run away - like a four year old when Mummy and Daddy are arguing.
)
I know what you mean but I've had the odd 'heated discussion' on here and it hasn't caused me to like people less - in fact a couple of the people I have disagreed with most are people I actually have a lot of time and respect (and liking) for. So please don't run away - stay, it's nice here(even when it's been a bit fraught like the last couple of days, it's still nicer than most internet forums are!).
Sorry, I've resized your text somehow and I can't seem to put it back to how it was....."I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -

Hiya - welcome!!
Don't be nervous - like any large group of people, it seems a bit daunting to start with, but just take a deep breath and jump in! As for diaries being private, they're on a public forum - if people wanted privacy they would write in a little book and hide it under their bedso again, just leap in and post whenever you feel like it. I love people posting on my diary, even though I don't update it as often as I used to - if I know other people are keeping an eye on me, it makes me behave myself more! :A
And if for any reason your posts do get overlooked, it's most likely just down to the speed the boards sometimes move, and not because people don't want to talk to you. No need to be nervous at all, I promise!
Well, until you meet Southern Scouser anyway.... :rotfl:"I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -
i see your point but would it be very different socialising in a sub forum?
In MY opinion - yes - I'm sorry. I respect your right to express your view, and have agreed with most of it. I just don't agree with having to 'socialise' in a sub forum - indeed if we have too many sub forums the 'main forum' will risk losing it's appeal and become 'neglected' by the very people best placed to 'help' newbie posters.
At the end of the day, however, I will respect the wishes of the majority.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

Thanks Snaggles! Everyone does seem to be very friendly, I think I'm just feeling my way around still. It's nice to know that there is support out there to people. I think all newbies will agree with me when I say how nice it is to be responded to... so I would hope any change wouldn't cause us to lose out.Nobody I'd rather be0

This whole thing about everyone coming to this board just to help newbies. How true is that? I've been honest and said that despite being debt free I still hang around here, as do lots of others. I come here because of the diaries community, people and challenges. While I am here I answer what I can to people, but I don't come here to answer newbies posts... sorry.
I assume those who do come here just to be helpful also post answers to newbies on the other boards where they need help too? Benefits, loans, mortgages... bankruptcy? I do take my hat off to you, I wish I were more like that but I tend to just help people who happen to be asking questions where I happen to be, where ever that is on the site.:A

I agree Toto.
I come here to chat, catch up with people and while I am here I try to help those that ask for it. But then I honestly thought that would the purpose of the site.Current debt - £16,300Debt at worst 17/03/2011 - £18,067.62:eek::eek::ANot going anywhere else, ever again :A0 -

Thanks - have voted (again). Let's hope this one doesn't get 'interfered with' :rotfl:I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
