Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!
Well. My small thing today was logging on to my new First Direct account to discover some gremlin had caused our entire months budget to be transported from our joint account and deposited into our savings account!!!! Nearly spat out my frugal home made carrot soup ;)

I did set up an automated sweep to occur on the 30th of each month for the shrapnel they'd find at that point but not on the 2nd of the month when it could have derailed us completely!

I'm wondering if it's caused by the short month of Feb, so the 2nd is some how the end of the month in their world????

Dawn Yes. I'm finally learning I think. I never got the storecupboard before as we have a Mr T a stumble trip down the road.

FVD If it's a business thing then worth the hassle of a home printer I'd imagine.

  • Still feeling like absolute pants. On the bright side, am on track for NSD - have only left the house to drop off and pick up various children! Need to go again in a little while to pick up the older ones and all schlep off to the doctor's for me (unrelated to current new illness, as it happens). Will need to take snacks and water so they don't nag for anything from the shop on the way (not that I'm even intending to take my wallet, but it seems a little cruel to just let them starve).

Not quite sure where I'm going to fit in cooking the quinoa burgers that are on tonight's menu plan. Might go for the emergency freezer chips and fried eggs instead.
Trying to figure out a whole new life. Trying to figure out a whole new budget.
Divorcing, unclear on final debt total right now, but focusing on building a financial buffer zone.
  • Hey all,

    Hope you're all well.

    So far I have:

    Checked FPL
Sold an item online and used the money for fresh food for the week
Scanned Freeview for things to record for entertainment
    Used coupon for health supplements
Used accumulated Te$co vouchers for ingredients to batch cook
    Charged phone in work
    Packed lunches for work
Arranged for friends to come over for lunch/vice versa to keep socialising costs down
Added to my original thread/the threads of other posters to keep momentum going
    Updated my budget spreadsheet

Welcome Starlighthappiness, you can always use those 2ps and 1ps in the self service machines at the supermarket. It might make you unpopular but it serves them right for replacing people's jobs with machines :)

Well, Foxgloves, I got my big girl pants on and went to the dentist :D It wasn't at all unpleasant but I haven't had anything done yet :rotfl:

She X rayed my teeth and checked them over and I am going back on Saturday to see the hygienist and then on 16th to take away what's left of one of the fillings and see if the decay underneath has reached the nerve  If it hasn't she will refill, if it has she'll fill temporarily while I decide between root canal treatment or an extraction (no contest, root canal is more than four times as much  )

The other one just needs the filling replacing.

I am one of those people lucky enough to still have an NHS dentist (not this one today) but it is so difficult to get an appointment there that I'm actually thinking that it's worth paying the extra for this one to be able to get an appointment when you actually need one. Even the toilets were beautiful, I'm planning on using them every time I go to get my money's worth :D

As I arrived a little early I browsed a charity shop and bought a lovely embroidered, scalloped edge table cloth. Not really moneysaving apart from there's one I love in M&S for 8x the price.

I popped into Debenh@ms to see if there was anything I fancied buying with my voucher but it's only a small branch so just clothes. I will wait until I'm near a bigger one with homewares.

The chicken is simmering away in the slow cooker, adding the broccoli so early might have been a bit of a smelly mistake  I popped Into the little Mr T to see if there were any reduced potatoes but no luck so just bought a pack of four and peeled them very thinly :rotfl:

The weather here is gorgeous, I have the downstairs doors and windows open and the cats are venturing into the back garden. I spotted the fox sitting in the sun round the back on my way out though he was very well camouflaged in the long grass. He looks like quite an old boy.

I have no big plans for today, I've put a load of washing in and may take a nap :)

    Hi all,
Rum sort of day here. Awoke with a headache, which has settled in for the day due to one hassle & another. A few bits of money saving activity achieved but nothing to shout about:
    *Did a couple of surveys,
*Started nobbling mr f about next week's meal plans.
*Purchased a Christmas present - I squirrel stuff away all year in my Presents Box.
*Batch-cooked spicy chickpea burgers & froze them. Cheap to make & very tasty in pittas with chilli sauce & a load of salad.
    *Made tomorrow's packed lunch.
*Tonight I will cast on a pair of socks for mr f using leftover self-patterning sock yarn & also some I bought for a totally bargainmongous price. Plain blue for the main body of the sock with wonderfully colourful ribs, heels & toes.
NOT money saving - having to make 3 phone calls this morning to try & arrange a repeat prescription.....the problem being that my GP's surgery hadn't received a letter from the consultant detailing my treatment plan. I have to ring again tomorrow afternoon to see if it's all resolved. Grrrr!
OK, must crack on, looking at screens isn't helping with this headache.
    Cheers all,
    f x

Ha! FVD I am tempted to do this but I think my local W@itrose must have preempted such shenanigans as they are card only! :rotfl::rotfl:

    Hi everyone,

Hope everyone is having a good day. Beautiful day here and the sun has been out all day; made the most of it by going for a long walk. Not been especially moneysaving as I've been out for lunch with a friend, but I did redeem a free drink with a loyalty card in a coffee shop.

OH is still hard at work so I will probably head off for a run in the last bit of sun before I make his dinner.

    Today I have/will:
    *[STRIKE]free coffee in town[/STRIKE] done
    *budget
    *[STRIKE]work, work, work :T[/STRIKE]done
    *payment to CC
    *ironing
    *[STRIKE]dinner from stores[/STRIKE]done
    *[STRIKE]sort some bills[/STRIKE]done
    *new meal plan
*[STRIKE]free exercise outdoors[/STRIKE]done, good run, 15km on my fitness tracker today so pleased with that

    Have a good evening all,
