Morning everyone on their debt free journey as well as anyone else who wishes to join us on our travels.

Today I feel under the weather both mentally and physically. I feel achy and lacking in energy as well as just wanting to shut myself away from the world. I am going to force myself to take the children to a HE meet this afternoon. As it is outside they can run off some energy and if it stays sunny this should make me feel better.

    Today I plan to:
Wash my hair and let it dry naturally
Turn off lights and appliances not in use
    Stick to the meal plan
Pack snacks and drinks for our afternoon out
Fill up my car, no other spending
    Educate the children for free
    Entertain us for free
    Read Martin's email
    RMS
    Ashleigh, FPL etc
    B/L/D from stores
    DW set to run overnight
    WM set to run overnight
    Porridge soaking overnight
Keep heating to a minimum, we have jumpers and blankets

Completed today's list. We went to the HE meet this afternoon, it was warm when the sun shined, cold when the wind blew only a few drops of rain and we missed the hail.

OH was paid today, no idea what mind you as he didn't pick up his payslip today. Tomorrow when he gets to work he is supposedly going to let me know how things are so I can update our fincances.

Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!
FVD I gave up having a home printer for exactly the reason you mention. It's expensive and the cartridges seem to last 5 minutes. Now get OH to do all our printing at work. At a push I go to the library.

LuckyPenny I could use this moment as the perfect time to start a Chicken Licken style rumour couldn't I ;) we all know how that ended.
I am stocking up because my income is so patchy and we often end up broke at the end of the month but still have that expensive hobby of eating :) So for once I'm trying to build up enough to cover 14 days of need be.

  • Bleurgh, have woken up full of cold and feeling horrendous. Going to give in and take some medicine in a moment.

I did quite well on yesterday's list...
    - hang laundry out on airers (raining here, boo). Done!
    - Make sure YNAB matches up with my bank account now a load of direct debits have gone out. Done!
    - social media for work. Done!
    - batch cook homemade baked beans. Done!
    - start to plan Child 2 and Child 3's birthday presents - mega budget for these (unlike previous 'we should stick to budget... Oh look at that lovely £100 wooden toy' efforts). Not done, ran out of steam.
    - buy cheapo biscuits for playdate later. Done!
Trying to figure out a whole new life. Trying to figure out a whole new budget.
Divorcing, unclear on final debt total right now, but focusing on building a financial buffer zone.
  • And now on with today's. In between wiping my drippy nose I will:

    - do a laundry and get it on the line - the forecast is for sun all day.
    - revisit that birthday present planning from yesterday's list.
    - defeat the ironing mountain.
    - do some yoga at lunchtime if I am feeling a bit better - I normally do it first thing but just can't face it today.
    - make some sock knitting progress (this will be easy, I love sock knitting).
    - check valued opinions for surveys - I am up to FOUR WHOLE POUNDS on there now.
    - try to get a good chunk of work done despite feeling rubbish - Thursday is my best working day as I have three hours childcare then the child in question usually naps for 90 minutes afterwards too - this is my longest chunk of time to work all week!
Trying to figure out a whole new life. Trying to figure out a whole new budget.

morning ToP I too have woken up bunged up. I can't believe it! I've been dogged with poor health all year :(

checked banking - really annoying with the switch as I can no longer see my old account and I had 2 dds for our joint account that came out so I just have to guess 1!

I'm halfway through drinking my coffee and need to make lunches when I've finished and then get ready. done

All meals from stores - grab something out of the freezer for dinner

hang up 1/2 load of washing before leaving (hung up the other 1/2 last night) done

ordered free tomato seeds - thanks ally x

make a note of mileage. Annoyingly I've been relocated to another office and it is less mileage than my previous office although it takes as long to get there and then I have to do driving around in the community so personally it's costing me more!

Starting a free running group tonight :)

    Morning all :)
Really strong winds and rain here yet again :(Well, the rain cleared up and the sun came out, so it was quite pleasant. The strong, cold wind stayed though - but it did dry the washing, so not complaining :)
Bob I think it is really sensible to build up a storecupboard. Ours has been a lifeline over the years! At least if you run out of money temporarily you still have food to eat. Saves worrying about that aspect, anyway! :)

    Anyway, today's list:
    Wash yucky hair  Done
Finish an apple started by GD yesterday for breakfast (I cut fruit up for very little children and give them a piece at a time, as much as they want, but they rarely eat a whole fruit). Done
    Dog walk Done
Washing on airer Not needed, dried outside :D
Put lounge curtains back up if aired No done this yet, must ask OH to help tomorrow
Pack an ebay sale (these are few and far between atm!) Done, plus another item that also sold. Will post both tomorrow.
Listed one item, being careful about this now, particularly with sales so slow, as I have given up my shop subscription, which included a bunch of free listings, so have to pay for each individual listing now. As I am a business seller I don't get the free listings allowances that private sellers get. Listing fees are going up too, at least for business sellers - wish I wasn't so honest and had just kept a private sellers account!
Go to sales unit and see if anything needed - and it is payday :TDone, got paid - not a lot, but better than nothing!
Remember to take RM surveys shopping vouchers with me, so I can get some bread without parting with any cash! Done, loaf cost £1, so I used a £1 :Dvoucher
Clean bathroom Done, also hoovered first floor landing, main bedroom and stairs. The sunshine showed up huge cobwebs on the landing  How did I not notice them before? :o Bashed them down with a towel and hoovered up the mess
Any surveys that are available A couple for onepoll
    RM surveys tasks Done
More ragu for dinner - I will probably freeze the rest after today for another time, as the recipe made loads! Will definitely make this again (River Cottage recipe) :)Done, froze enough for another meal for OH and I (DS away again atm, though we have the dog in residence)
Tried webuybooks app on another batch of books, and the prices offered this time were dreadful. Got up to about £8 for a huge pile of books and gave up and put them all back. I must have been lucky with the last lot - over £23 for 12 books was ok I thought.
Just got the washing to fold and put away now - ironing? What is that?? :rotfl: Actually I did iron a pair of curtains yesterday!

Hope everyone has a good day :)

    Good morning everyone
ToP if u want any more ironing, I can send mount ironing Everest your way.....hoping to tackle this today.
Few chores to do in town but won't need to spend anything
Have a parcel to send-RM survey stamps will be used for the postage
Feeling slightly rough this morning, could not get comfy last night so decided to work on my daughters trip for this weekend
My daughter does a lot of voluntary work and interviewed and was successful for a youth consultation forum.
They have their first meeting-4 hours away. She is taking a friend with her but the trains back on a Sunday are awful so will have to do a 4 hour round trip on Sunday to pick them up from the nearest train station.
She gets full expenses back, but still nice to make savings. Tried to book her room last night with H@liday Inn and just missed out on member discount as they didn't have the room and iPad was playing up:(
Also hoping to get a Hoover thru today, even if I'm asleep on my wheels:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Talking of bingo wins....one of the surreal moments of my life....my niece aged 19, took her 3 times without winning and then she went and won quite a few thousand....think 10+ plus:eek:

Kudos to those of you that iron, it's my most hated job, I would rather clean toilets than iron!

I have a dentist appointment booked for midday, it is a private dentist so it's going to cost a fortune but I'm past caring and they have weekend appointments if I have to go back. Hopefully not losing a days money to go back next week if needed will balance out some of the cost.

I'm awake early and am going to put some YS chicken drumsticks in some gravy in the slow cooker and hope the meat is falling off by this evening to serve as a roast. None of us really like drumsticks but they cost pennies and meat is meat when its covered in gravy!

I need to defrost some sausages to make stuffing and bring in and thoroughly scrub my stuffing dish which went outside for the fox with the remains of a bread and butter pudding in it! I'll also cook one of my YS bags of carrots, cauliflower and broccoli with it. I didn't blanch them before freezing so don't know how successfully they will defrost.

I'm going to try another pack of printer ink and then return them for a refund if it still doesn't work. I've never had trouble with using the cheap inks before, it's so annoying, like Bobarella I print what I can from work but was planning on printing my order of services on this one (until I know if there's any demand and then maybe I'd upgrade.) I did my dad's on this one and it was fine but I suppose it was three years ago.
