Well done Katheryn on sorting out your plans going forward. It must be very difficult but you have at least thought things through. Good news that you can have SW chips and roast potatoes - who wouldn't throw away the boiling water the potatoes were cooked in! I certainly wouldn't use it to make gravy as it would be far too starchy.

That looks a good plan for today.

Have had a look at my menu plan for next week and started yet another shopping list which I'll need to pick up tomorrow after WI (I think DH will be able to manage OK while I go to group and do a bit of shopping tomorrow morning, even if it means he has to drink coffee rather than tea while I'm out as he drinks that black and has a bit of trouble opening the milk one handed!)

    Today's plan:

B - 40g Aldi Swiss style museli (HEB)(not as nice as the Lidl one I had last week on holiday); natural yoghurt; Tesco frozen breakfast fruit topper (the last of it); strawberries, grapes & banana. Has definitely filled me up!
L - HM scotch eggs using Linda McC rosemary & red onion sausages; salad - mixed leaves, cucumber, tomato, beetroot, spring onion, pickled onions, HM onion chutney
D - Beef stew (from freezer); mash

    HEA - milk
    HEB - museli
    Syns - none planned

I am full of admiration Kathyrenha for how you are coping with all of this. If anyone can do it is you. :j.

Seconded, you're remaining so positive and pro-active Kathryn :T And if you're allowed SW chips then you're all set - just live off them! :D I was just thinking about my food for the day and wondered if you're allowed pesto? That might be a way of having a pasta dish without the tomato problem - I often make a packed lunch of pasta with pesto stirred in, mixed with fried chopped bacon/chicken and various veg. Sometimes a little cheese on top. The Sacla squeezy is only 1.5 syns per tbsp.

Morning all! Well yesterday I managed to remain completely on plan and finished on 10 syns :A The bubble and squeak cakes I made weren't especially nice and now I have three more portions in the freezer to use up :( And I had an egg white to spare after using the yolk for them, so I decided to try making meringues for the first time with one egg white and 2 tbsp sweetener. They weren't even worth the one syn, but at least I know not to bother in future.

    Today:
B - Banoffee baked oats (made with toffee yoghurt, mashed banana and cinnamon - I'll syn the sweetener but not the banana :p)
D - Late lunch before running club of pesto pasta to use up some bacon medallions, cherry tomatoes and half an aubergine and courgette, sprinkling of parmesan
T - SW Italian chicken soup as it'll be late when I get home.
    HEA - Milk/parmesan
    HEB- Oats
Syns - Sugar in coffee (3), sweetener in baked oats (1), pesto (1.5), hot choc (3) = 8.5

I need to plan my next few days but I'm going to challenge myself to eat from the freezer because it's full to bursting.

I'm trying to stay positive, although not totally feeling it.

SW chips (or any potato) are allowed twice a week only, but it does put roast dinner, or home made burger back on the list of possible meals.

Unfortunately pesto is not allowed. I can't have nuts or seeds, although I can have the fresh herbs. When I've made pesto in the past I replaced the nuts with sunflower seeds due to my nut allergy, but now the seeds are on the banned list, I'm not sure what to replace them with.

Pasta, pesto and bacon sounds lush, unfortunately bacon and ham are banned too. Turkey ham is on my list of questions to ask about.

At the moment I am at work trying to resist temptation. There are doughnuts in the office, and they are on my allowed list, and my colleagues are telling me I deserve a treat, but last nights weigh in is telling me I definitely don't. Just had my strawberries instead.

    Morning all

I enjoyed going to class yesterday - there was limited parking at the venue so I had to pay and display and then walk, next week I'll try and get there earlier to avoid paying for parking. I didn't mind the walk - along the creek and through the park - very pleasant. The consultant is still new but seemed very friendly and helpful, she used to be a member of that group and got to target last year for her wedding. I texted the other consultant and she was fine with me transferring and said to pop in to the evening group sometimes just to say hello. (She's so lovely, I still feel a bit guilty, but hey ho, it's my money and my time.)
B - Banoffee baked oats (made with toffee yoghurt, mashed banana and cinnamon - I'll syn the sweetener but not the banana :p)

You little rebel! (I do the same ;))

You just reminded me that I've left my pancake pans in Spain and I meant to bring them back for more banana pancakes! I might have to buy more pans. :rotfl:

Well done for remaining positive and for resisting doughnuts Kathryna. :T Your regime sounds very restrictive so it must be hard to stay focussed on following SW with all the restrictions.

Have a good day everyone, it's lovely and sunny here so I might go for a walk later.

I agree 100%!:T I, too, have been thinking of ideas for you. I think your gain may have been because synful foods aren't on your banned list. How healthy is that!! but what can you actually eat that has fibre?

I had the parsnip colcannon cakes last night. They were OK but too much faffing about for the outcome although DH loved them. They were OK to use up some stuff but I wouldn't bother buying in specially. I think what I'd do is make up the mixed mash (a bit like I do with swede and carrot) and then bake it in an ovenproof dish preferably with some cheese on top. Fortunately I was able to add surplus egg white to my lunchtime omelette so no need for me to make meringues tete!

Today we're having salmon. I'm experimenting with the teriyaki marinade that was in a SW magazine (for kebabs). I find buying flavoured salmon unnecessarily expensive, synful and sometimes the marinade is so strong you can't taste the fish. We've got football this evening so I may have an early dinner and then perhaps buy/have a snack later.

Today's plan (although it may change:D):
B: NAS grapefruit, 2 boiled eggs, HEB toast, HEA milk for drinks
L: teriyaki salmon, new potatoes, green stuff (mange tout, broccoli, peas), tomatoes and mushrooms
D: JP with cottage cheese and beetroot
Syns: tsp of sweet chilli sauce (shared) maybe a fun sized Crunchie

Hi all, hope I'm not out of place .
I joined SW last night, it has changed a lot since I last did it approx 10 years ago !

I'm still in the "Aaargh I don't know what I can eat " stage and I can only read the books etc in short bursts due to my chronic vertigo disability.

So, this afternoon I am near a Sainsburys and I need ideas of snacky type things I can grab to have in the house. Other than the obvious fruit and veg . Things like mug shots which used to be free or low sin. I just need easy ideas to keep me going. I struggle with cooking due to the vertigo and will be feeling terrible this afternoon due to a dentist appointment which is a major trigger.

I had 0% activia and fruit for breakfast and am having eggs and salad and maybe a little bread for lunch. Probably salmon for dinner tonight. But I am starving and need some nice nibbles until I can get my head round this.

Edited to say, I don't eat meat but fish is OK.

Couldn't read and run oystercatcher so to get you started: pasta n sauce are still a good bet. The tomatoey ones are free but the cheesy ones are 1 or 2 syns. Same with the savoury rice. As you don't eat meat Id suggest something like crabsticks or prawns to nibble at from the fridge and rather than prepare veg I'd buy beetroot and cornichons which I can happily eat straight from the jar! Other options are tins of sardines or mackerel in brine (or tomato sauce) which make a good snack with the pickles.

P.S. A Sushi selection is fairly low syn (not Sainsbury's sushi salad) if you feel hungry in the shop!

Welcome Oystercatcher. You are indeed in the right place. You will get plenty of help, inspiration and encouragement here from everyone.

As you eat fish snacky things like seafood sticks, prawns & smoked salmon come to mind. All of which are Free foods.

Other things which come to mind are hard boiled eggs, SW quiche/muffins.

Quite a few crisps are fairly low syn - usually 3-5 such as Poms, Skips. If you want something sweeter you can get popcorn which is about 5 syns a bag.

If you can access the SW website there is ideas for Free and low syn snacks on there. Just type in Snacks on the Recipe and Menus tab in the search box.

Hope there's a few ideas there for you to try.

Maman - if the teriyaki marinade is any good can you let me know which magazine it was in so I can look it up, or better still, post it on here then I can copy & paste into Word so it's easily available.

    Thanks.
