Maman, do you mean the microwaveable pouches?
The plain white rice ones are okay, others I would have to check.
Used to, pre SW like the egg fried rice ones with sweet chilli sauce, but the peas in some would make them not okay now, though the egg would be okay if I only had them occasionally.

I assumed the pouches would have syns, because they tend to have oil in them

The microwaveable pouches do have syns but many are very low like one or 2 syns for the whole pack.

What I was thinking of was Batchelors (or own brand like Aldi) Savoury Rice that you mix with boiling water and microwave. I had Golden Rice last week when fresh food was a bit thin on the ground here. They make a variety of flavours so you'd need to check the ingredients but basically they're rice cooked in stock to give flavour and bits added like meat and veg. You could copy that to give yourself a change from plain rice.

Is there a list of what you can and can't have. It would help us look out ideas for you.:)

I wonder how lois got on at her new group?

Katheryn and anyone else who is interested, here is the SW sweet chilli sauce recipe:

The recipe says it's 1 syn per portion but it can be made syn free easily by substituting the sugar for sweetner and tomato puree for tomato sauce.

2 tsp caster sugar (or sweetner)
57ml/2 fl oz white wine vinegar
1 chilli, deseeded and sliced (or to taste)
1 level Tbsp tomato ketchup (or puree + a little sweetner)

    Method:

    1. Boil 255ml/9 fl oz of water in a small saucepan; add the caster sugar and stir continuously until dissolved.
    2. Pour in the white wine vinegar and cook for 6-7 minutes until reduced and syrupy.
    3. Stir in the chilli and tomato ketchup, transfer to a bowl, cover and chill until needed.

Sorry Katheryn - just realised it may not be suitable for you because of the tomato ketchup or tomato puree.

Katheryn - Have just googled sweet chilli sauce recipe without tomato and found this one (but it might be a bit hotter than the SW one): http://allrecipes.com.au/recipe/29631/no-tomato-chilli-sauce.aspx

Also found this quick sauce - supposedly can be made in 20 minutes: http://www.notquitenigella.com/2013/02/16/made-from-scratch-thai-sweet-chilli-sauce-in-20-minutes/

There may of course be others which you could look at and see if any would be suitable for you.

Thanks Denise, I will have ago making my own sauce.

I would need to adapt both of those recipes, but I'm getting used to that.

All I can see online is frozen steam bags of Asda rice lush. That's free. If the ingredients just say rice then you should be fine.

Hope the sun shines on Saturday. BBQs are great with SW.:)

I've been getting those bags of rice a lot recently - so quick and easy and no washing up!

Just went to work and due to crossed wires found I wasn't needed after all so that was a waste of time but at least I now have the afternoon to get on with some life admin. I went to the shop on my way home and have stocked up on mug shots and muller lights. I'd been trying to avoid processed stuff like that (I'm even synning butter rather than have low fat spread) but they do fill a hole and feel like a bit of a treat so hopefully they'll provide a bit of damage limitation. (And let's face it, chocolate is hardly the most natural of natural foods is it?!)

Ah Kathryn I feel for you - but just think of the mad skillz you're building up in adaptability and cheffing!
