That's the thing - its enormous salads and huge amounts of vegetables that I am eating, not necessarily free meat & carbs like pasta/rice, but I still wonder whether my portions could/should be more restrained! :p

Congratulations Kathryn on SOTW. An amazing loss with all the restrictions in your diet now.

Piglet if the bulk of your food is vegetables then I don't think I'd worry too much about portion size. Even with largish portions of protein and carbs as long as they don't have fat with them then it probably isn't too big a problem either. Carbs aren't fattening in themselves it things that are added to them that are the problem!

Expected a gain but not that much. Really need to sort out what I eat, and try and fit in more fibre.

    Hope everyone's ok xx

Menu for today for me - bad day, millions of syns :( crisps, cake, chips everywhere in the office!!
    B - fruit, yogurt, oats (3)
    L - BLT (heb) mayo (1) crisps (3)
T - beef lasagne - (6 syns for the mince + hea), salad
S - mini cheddars (6) shortbread (millions), apple

The lasagne was nice (piccie) but so, so, greasy _pale_ I don't know how people eat normal mince now, it was good quality but just full of fat _pale_ the recipe's definitely on the list to make again but with <5% mince and i'd probably put the cheese on top rather than in with the mince.

So onto the chart... apologies if I've missed anyone, we seem to have a few results missing this week.

SOTW* is.... :T:j:TKATHRYNHA:T:j:T with a loss of 3.5lbs!!

    Congratulations!

    Evening everyone...

Thanks for the chart, shala, and well done Kathryn on SOTW :T - sorry to hear about your gain, but at least you know why you have gained this week, and its not really your fault... Its going to take time to get your head around all the adaptations to suit your new enforced dietary requirements!

Lushlifesaver - thanks for the heads up about the veg at Morrisons. I need leeks and can always use onions/carrots/potatoes, so am off tomorrow to see what my local store is offering... :D

Well, I stuck to today's menu, but added a banana & Greek yoghurt after dinner (banana was very much at the "eat me now" stage! :p), and put it together with an Alpen light banoffee bar, which was my HExB. Also had a couple of After Eights at work today (a lovely customer brought us in a box for Easter...and I couldn't resist!) but at only 2 syns each, they were delicious, so I would consider them worth the syns. ;)

My menu tomorrow is going to be exactly the same as today (won't bore you all typing it out again!), because there's another portion of leek & potato soup in the fridge (as well as one gone into the freezer), and dinner also grew (it always does - its impossible to make a small amount of that dish, but is tastes just as good, if not better, the next day!), so tomorrow will be a lazy, no cooking day - hooray! :j

Okay, it's a new week. Last week was bad, but I need to sort stuff out. Yes my diet is very limited. The banned list is long, but there are a number of foods I can eat some of, just limited quantities, and I need to not be afraid of using them.

    I think I had 3 main problems:
    1. Scared of using them, because they obviously aren't that good for me, and what if I have too much. They wouldn't tell me I could have some if it wasn't safe!
    2. The feeling that if I can only have a little of something, I had to use it to make something really nice and special, not just waste it on a normal meal. Why, if I like the normal meal, that is probably the best use of it.
    3. Not enjoying my meals, which resulted in the only food I was enjoying was the high syn food, which I was having too much of.

Need to make sure I use:
    Yogurt - 2 per week
    Eggs - 3 per week
Potatoes - twice a week but they must be boiled
Cheese - up to 60g per week
    Oats - 2 times a week

This means I can have overnight oats twice a week, which I really like.
And I can have SW quiche sometimes which I love, and it is so easy.
And I am allowed fresh herbs, garlic, spices, mustard, sweet chilli sauce, miso, vinegar, lemon juice and chillies. I need to use them to their best, as they are what will make my food taste good.
And confirmed by doc, I can have roast potatoes, and SW chips as long as I pre boil them and chuck away the water :)

    So todays plan:
Breakfast - overnight oats and fruit
Lunch - chicken salad - bit boring but I've added stuff to the dressing, so it should be good
Dinner - Chilli and rice. Trying a tomato free sauce, based on the suggestions earlier in this thread.
Snacks - strawberries, water melon, Skips

    HA - milk
    HB - oats
syns - some in salad dressing, and skips.
