Not an NSD today, but got off lightly as mum took me and little one to town and got us dinner. I paid for coffee and parking plus I picked up a shirt for little one for the wedding. Spend £20 in total so I'll have to be careful over the weekend. Pay day next Friday.
Grateful for :
Generous family

Today I am grateful for the sunshine, for a muddy run (love it!), for finding the playgrounds I was looking for, for finding a utube clip on how to make washcloth roses (want to make one for mother's day as all flowers are stoopidly expensive at the mo), for talking to dd, for mum having a decent day, for the lovely J who turned a potentially difficult situation with mum into a much better one, for finding some absolutely gorgeous fabric for my bunnies, for the gas man coming out tomorrow to fix the broken heating, for the immersion heater so we still have hot water - phew.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0

Went to mum's late - DS3 had disappeared when I was ready to go, his keys were in the front door and I wasn't going to go out leaving the house unlocked. He had only taken his laptop to be mended (again).
Mum's house is still a germ factory so I have been coughing all afternoon and evening. My brother has now got the mobility scooter and had visited his daughter. We are both expecting that the dog will end up sitting in his lap with his front paws on the handlebars (he used to ride in the passenger seat of the motorhome with paws on the dashboard).
Lots of washing processed but still keep finding more ( my bed still needs stripping). Bought card and presents on the way to mum's but unfortunately have brought the card back - may have to walk there and back with it before Sunday.
Today I am grateful for getting lots of domestic stuff done, for finding the things I wanted to buy easily and for mum saying I looked like her - other people say I do but mum has always insisted I look like my dad.My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -

mothernerd wrote: »I needed that inspiration. Sorry for poor service over the past few days. I am fed up because I don't seem to be able to get going this week. It's extra frustrating because Beloved has gone to see her parents for a couple of days and I have a rare opportunity to get in their room / the front room (DS3 can only be in one or the other).
I did empty 2 more of the boxes that were on their bedroom floor, turfed out an old quilt that is quite disgusting and found more clothes for washing. Also brought up another bag of their clean clothes. But there is no room for the quilt in the bin (don't ask me to send it to the dog's home, it's not fit for a dog) so it's on the kitchen floor (until bin is emptied - did another pile of pizza boxes last night). Would like to strip the beds but that is at least 3 more loads of washing and nowhere to dry them. Feeling frazzled because the whole house is unravelling and I want it boxed into manageable segments.
I was feeling useless and despondent. Not quite bounced back but okay (not enough sleep). I have moved one of Thursday's meetings onto today so will be out for 4 - 5 hours. Not sure how I will manage - probably curl on an armchair and go to sleep.
Thank you mothernerd for encouragement, inspiration and your precious time, and all the ninjas who post, your advice, recipes and challenges have been a great help to me, and fun too.I love MSE, Thank you to all who share their journey and knowledge to reach their goals and live a good life on a small income.
2025 will be a year of necessary challenges and changes, and closing some doors permanently that don’t serve me or are not in my best interest.0 -
Fmess enjoy your meal and woohoo for payday. When payday doesn't bring a little joy (when you don't even check to see how much it is) it is time to seriously consider a change (that's not just for you, but for all turtles whose work is a trial). Honestly, when I started pushing the pay packet into my pocket without even looking, the next step was thinking about how cool and inviting the canal water looked (later got put on the 'suicide bench' - I've told you before, you haven't lived until you have worked somewhere that has a 'suicide bench').
misstara I wouldn't stress about the NSDs if you are in budget and spending in accordance with your budget (that's basically not spending the children's food money on chocolate and diamonds). I really don't want to add stress to your lives this month (although I will be stern will those who break the rules).
Sweetbriarrose thank you for your kind words. Would you like to join us in the future? It's okay if you just want to follow and try the rules you find helpful, the turtle life can be hard at first (but soon becomes addictive).
Not surprisingly, I am tired today. The cough has abated (still lurking). I have taken advantage of the weather by tottering up and down the yard, adjusting and adding to the drying washing. I did enjoy sitting in the sunshine for a few minutes at a time, guess it's time to start the anti-histamines. I have a pathetically poor wifi signal so I may disappear (oh joy, got another bar).
Day 24
Use It or Lose It
I'm not going to ask you to do anything today (maybe a little thinking). I am surprised by how this challenge has made me think about the things I have.
I would say that I don't have ood items in my cupboards but this month I have finished off lemon juice, mint sauce, chutney, tomato ketchup, plain yoghurt. Some infrequently used items so not sure how long they have been around. Some had already been replaced in anticipation of running out and some (chutney - used mainly in stews and curries) were ys buys that have been used but aren't things I have in.
I have become more aware of the things I have - can think of a couple of things that I need to use/ start using. I need some serious thought about my tools and screws (did big clear out last year), my material stash and my craft supplies (can't forget that one, it looms over me and frequently shares my bed - I can do up to 13 hours sewing when I can't sleep).
I have already suggested that I share any tool double ups with DS1 (saving to buy a house) and agreed to supply my mother with a basic tool kit, probably DS3's if we can find where he has put them (I buy things for his 'bottom drawer' as Christmas gifts). Mum's partner's sons have removed his tools, they won't take DS3's as I bought him pink ones. We had a good laugh when partner's DS1 asked if she had an adjustable wrench when playing with the new washing machine - as she said "You would know".
Are there any categories you think deserve a mention (my list is running out). I haven't said ornaments because I have very few (not counting the extensive collection of manga/ game figures in their room).
Day 24 Wellbeing
Watch a good movie.

Well naughty me is back, got tickets for a gig tonight, sold out, but some returned to the theatre. Lets just say when the tough gets going ;-) Also booked a wee gig in Glasgow in June that can be my holiday for this year, just need train and accommodation next.
Will tighten strings next month to make up for it.
