Dashcam footage

  • I'm not going to get drawn into any arguments chaps, I would disagree with the majority of the replies, I would have thought that driving in the outside lane and slowing down to 54mph when there was no traffic in the inside lane was not the actions of someone driving sensibly, check also just before I entered the nearside lane, the Range Rover for reasons unknown braked, no vehicle was in front of him, so why brake?
When I pulled along side him on the inside lane you will see he left no time in accelerating so I couldn't undertake him (if you view further footage you will see I did pull off to go onto the A1068), then brake again just before he became parallel with the line of vehicles on the inside lane, why do this when the road in front of him was clear?
Unfortunately I don't have any video evidence of the smile and laugh the passenger gave me when I was along side the Range Rover, story his actions were that of a driver who intended to stop me or any other motorist from passing him.
I'm more than happy to show the three minutes leading up to this incident if you so wish, it will show me behind the Range Rover at speeds up to 70mph.

Please post it as I am very keen to see the terrible driving by the Range Rover owner, He was bang out of order and I think he should be hurled up in Court and his licence revoked with immediate effect. :)

check also just before I entered the nearside lane, the Range Rover for reasons unknown braked

You draw parallel with the back of the bus at 6sec.
At 9sec, you've only just cleared the front of it, and are already starting to accelerate.
By 10sec, you are visibly moving left.
You were already straddling the white lane to change lane as the RRS brake lights come on at 11sec.
They go off again at 12sec, having barely lost any speed, when you're almost completely into L1.

At that stage, it's entirely possible that - having chopped across the front of the bus sharply and already closing the gap, you're going to floor it and try to squeeze through in front before the slow-moving traffic ahead. I can't blame him for wondering if that's what'll happen, and making some room for you.

At 14sec, and doing 61mph instead of the 54mph you were doing before you started to accelerate, you draw alongside the back of the RR.
By 17sec, at 63mph, he starts to accelerate past you, as you close on the slower moving traffic ahead.

By which stage, it's clear that you aren't going to make it past, if that's your intention, so he moves forward to give you space to pull in behind again.

By 23sec, you're down to 40mph behind the slower moving traffic as you pass the 300m sign for the junction.

If you were really planning to take that exit, why accelerate in the first place?

Sorry, but the RRS driver is not the one showing the poor judgement and awareness in that clip.

You should have stayed out for another second or two after clearing the front of the bus, then gradually let your speed decay to match the slower moving traffic in time for the junction.

Glad someone pointed that out. The opening scene has all the hallmarks of a crass undertake.
A one second gap to the car in front, a cut up of the bus combined with accelerating toward slower moving traffic in lane one.

Bravo the the RR for preventing it. :T

I have no idea why anyone should be miffed by a car in lane two traveling faster than cars in lane one.

    yup I agree,

Can we see the footage at 70mph, I'm sure you are at a safe following distance for the speed /s

Yesterday I had the misfortune to be behind an idiot who slowed down to 54 mph in the fast lane of the A1 to stop me getting past,
Paranoid nonsense. I doubt he knew you were there until you undertook him. Did you flash your lights?

His brake lights came on again as he accelerated away.
  • Can you check the time set on dashcam - the time and the radio programme don't match. Showing 17:22 but sounds like Steve Wright so, unless that is being streamed, the time evidence is suspect.

Steve Wright is stuck in the 1980s so it's probably some sort of time warp affecting the dashcam clock

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Seems you don't want to listen, nothing much happening here.

If you're following an idiot just back off.

    You're driving too close anyway.
  • What do you expect the police to do? Hardly crime of the century. Not like they have the time anyhow.
