Dashcam footage

i had footage of someone reading a broadsheet newspaper on the motorway, day after I had a van driver reading a large piece of paper (A3 at least). Both of these I had clear footage of the number plate and my passenger turned the camera to show the offence and the drivers clearly.

Contacted the police to see if they'd be interested. Never even got the dignity of a "no thanks"

That is why I believe episodes like this should be shared on the internet, perhaps nothing happened on those occasions but I'm sure the police would like to have a copy of the video if the driver was a persistent offender.

Well if people kept a safe distance behind any vehicle regardless as to what speed they were travelling at, there wouldn't be any accidents. If you would have hit the Range Rover, it would have deemed to be your fault.

So you agree with the range rover drivers actions?

He didn't say that now did he?

Simply pointed out there would be no risk of an accident if the proper stopping distance was observed

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

  • The fact you call yourself 'Ace Driver' on YouTube is far more disturbing than the video you linked to. If you were that 'ace', you'd know this isn't worth even mentioning to anyone.

I really can't see any issue with it at all.

I watched the whole video waiting for the black Peugeot to do something, because I really didn't think it was even the RRS that was being talked about.

If anything, his braking was a sensible precaution in case the camera car accelerated towards the slower traffic in L1 in a passing-on-left manouvre, so that the camera car would have space to get back into L2.

I'd far rather see the minute or two leading UP to an alleged incident than an irrelevant minute or three after.

Nobody knows what was going through the Range Rover driver's mind. They did nothing to actually endanger you or any other road user. Maybe they were distracted by something on radio and slowed down, only realising when it looked like you were undertaking, where they speeded up again. If they were trying to annoy you they would have just kept there nose ahead of you to prevent an undertake rather than shooting off like a startled rabbit.

Let it go, life's to short.
  • I'm not going to get drawn into any arguments chaps, I would disagree with the majority of the replies, I would have thought that driving in the outside lane and slowing down to 54mph when there was no traffic in the inside lane was not the actions of someone driving sensibly, check also just before I entered the nearside lane, the Range Rover for reasons unknown braked, no vehicle was in front of him, so why brake?
When I pulled along side him on the inside lane you will see he left no time in accelerating so I couldn't undertake him (if you view further footage you will see I did pull off to go onto the A1068), then brake again just before he became parallel with the line of vehicles on the inside lane, why do this when the road in front of him was clear?
Unfortunately I don't have any video evidence of the smile and laugh the passenger gave me when I was along side the Range Rover, story his actions were that of a driver who intended to stop me or any other motorist from passing him.
I'm more than happy to show the three minutes leading up to this incident if you so wish, it will show me behind the Range Rover at speeds up to 70mph.

Yes got to admit that was a bit of a Micky take, but you shouldn't judge a book by its cover.

Oh, I see. Should have been obvious, but with the general rantiness of the OP, I just assumed you were serious.

If one doesn't want a book to be judged by its cover, why would one publish it with a cover that attracts a judgement?

If you were that bothered, you could have just run into the back of him, and claimed he slowed "for no reason". Whatever the outcome, it would have ruined his week ;)

    Just forget it.

Yesterday I pulled out of a junction behind a van following a shogun.
The van then did a desperate overtake, I thought it was cutting it a bit fine with the anti-overtaking islands coming up.

    Then I found out why.

I assume from the black smoke but no increased forward motion that the shogun's injection pump was on its last legs, but worse, when we got to the urban section, it actually braked to a stop because something was coming the other way!!

I could upload half a dozen "incidents" a day to imasnitch.com if I could be bothered....
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

(except air quality and Medical Science ;))
