PIP Refused...Is MR Worth It ?

As expected I have been refused PIP....scored 6 on daily living and 4 on disability....I have a couple of things that I don't agree with, the thing is, my surgery don't do letters for PIP's claims, they only respond if DWP contact them, also my local CAB is hardly ever open, I think my only option is to write a letter pointing out the things that I disagree with....is it worth doing an MR ?....I should add that should it fail I don't intend taking it further....any thoughts welcomed......Jack.

Not many decisions get overturned by the MR but I'd always say don't ask don't get.
I would try and get help if you can from CAB (Are they ringable/emailable?) or someone who has experience with MRs etc. While I get that you don't want to go that far a lot more decisions do get overturned by tribunal
Go for the MR - nothing to lose really!0 -
If you can tell us the points you don't agree with and why then we may be able to help.
Often the key is whether you can do things safely, reliably and in a timely fashion - do you think this would apply?
Have you seen CAB's website about PIP?

Although it is about completing the PIP from it is also useful if you are appealing. Have a look at the particular descriptors that you think you meet and then see if there is any extra information that you could provide - both from yourself and your health professionals - which would back up your reasons.0 -
O.k...One of the things that I am not happy with, is the fact that to go any distance at all I have to use a mobility scooter, I mentioned this on my claim form, and at the assessment, neither the HCP or the DM has made any mention of this, also on the claim form I stated that I could walk only about 50 meters, any further and my right leg causes me great pain....it is numb all the time...the HCP has said that I can walk 200 meters "with great difficulty" and therefore gave me 4 points....what the HCP couldn't have known is that I was unable to leave the house for three days after, and, because of, going to the assessment......Jack.Retired (Early) April 20150

The impression I am getting is that P.I.P. is being used to kick claimants off their DLA benefits via the back door. I do think you should appeal the decision, and try and get help with doing this from people who are experienced a filling the forms in, etc. There may be some money or healthcare charities in your area who would be able to help you.It is not because things are difficult that we dare not venture
It is because we dare not venture that they are difficult

Thanks for that.....I should say that I am a first time claimant, and was never on DLA, in fact I have never claimed anything at all, always having worked......I notice that my local CAB is open rather longer than I first thought, so first port of call in the morning is to go see them.....one of the other things that the HCP has noted, is that I "can cook a simple meal using an aid"....this refers to having to sit on a stool in the kitchen....but is incorrect, as I have to sit with right leg elevated, not really ideal whilst trying to make a meal......Jack.Retired (Early) April 20150

Be sure to tell CAB about the time limit for getting the MR in. I'm sure they'll ask but better safe than sorry!0
