Mr F returned from an overseas trip last night. He managed to get home earlier than expected so we opened a bottle of red with supper and I had two glasses  On a school night  Tilly did say it was mandatory :o

There is news. We have more questions  and one indemnity request. Only three this time - one we've answered before, one is easily dealt with and one I need to speak to my solicitor about.

Even if we get those dealt with today our Buyers will still need to receive the contract report, sign the final documentation and get it back to their solicitor before we can exchange. Will it all happen by Monday? Tuesday? Wednesday? Place your bets.

We're getting too close to our requested completion date now for my liking. Ooops - I can feel my fingers drumming again.

In better news I have buildings insurance set up for when we exchange. It wasn't easy. My current insurer would not give me an accurate quote until I could give them an exchange date. One insurer quoted me £688 just for buildings cover  When I said 'B***** H***' He said "Is that 'B***** H***' in a good way?" I found a company on C0nfu$£d in the end - they were the first 5 Star Defaqto rated I found and have a great Trust Pilot score too. They have been fantastic and able to help with some requirements that are very specific to the property. The cost is only going to be slightly more than we pay on the current property so I'm happy with that.

Nothing more for me to do now but wait... again.

Mr F and I were talking this morning and our focus hasn't really been on the minutiae of MS these last months. Oh for the days when our priorities include collecting the coffee and shampoo from Mr F's hotel visits. I am definately one for a quiet life :rotfl:

Hope your week is going well

It will soon be over and all forgotten about Fortune. You will soon be enjoying your new home, but I agree that it is the lack of control that is so frustrating. Not long now x
  • Our exchange happened quite suddenly one lunchtime, with completion set for a week later. We'd just been told "it'll hopefully happen this week" but our solicitor didn't want to commit to a specific date just in case (vendors solicitor had been a bit slow with some things), so I suddenly got an email going "You've exchanged contracts, please get buildings insurance" XD

I've asked my solicitor to contact me (3 times now) to no avail :( In the meantime, I have spoken to Mr Buyer and he seems to know more about what my solicitor is doing than I do

The one outstanding enquiry we have relates to the Title Deed and Plans. There is a covenant in the Deeds which refers to an area on the Plan marked in blue. The area isn't marked blue on the plan we have, it is marked red. Because of the discrepancy we are being asked to provide an indemnity.

Apparently my solicitor has gone back to the Land Registry about it and I don't know the implications of this. If we've just been given the wrong plan then that's fine we can just get a copy of the correct one. If a mistake has been made on the plan, will it need to be corrected before we can proceed? I've heard it can take months to resolve this type of issue with the Land Registry. I would rather have just paid the indemnity than open a can of worms. It's exactly why I wanted to speak to my solicitor - before we went down a path of no return. Soooooo annoying.

I will definitely have to start a new diary if this move ever happens. This one is full of snarls and growls. We have had relatively few issues with this process so I shouldn't be so grumpy about it. I just can't help myself :o

In more positive news, I did better than expected on a few Bay of E sales so that should help if we do end up with an idemnity cost. I shall parcel those up ready to send tomorrow when I pop into the market town.

And I've also finished all the filing - Ta Dah! :T I think that's the first time in about six years that's happened.

I might do a some gardening this afternoon. There's just a little weeding to do and I want to take some cuttings of plants with us. Not much but I'm sure being out in the sun will help lighten my mood and it all helps to feel as though progress is being made... even it if isn't :p

    Have a great Monday guys

    Ah good old solicitors.

    FD loan Approx £5700

I probably will start a new one Karma. The purpose of this one was to help me make the move. Once I've done that I'll be focussing on making a fresh start and OPing the mortgage. So it makes sense to have a fresh diary too. Don't worry though I'll let you know where I am. Don't want to lose you - you'd be missed :)

Just so Blackste. A five minute 'phone call would have saved us both a lot of grief.
