Neither is more or less valid, the problem is when one is considered to be an insult.0 -

Clearly you consider mine less valid as you suggested it implied homophobia.
You also used the scenario to illustrate your point about a poster having views which were "shocking".0 -

Yes, I do think it implies homophobia if you would be insulted to find that somebody thought you might be !!!!!exual.0 -

I personally wouldn't be insulted just uncomprehending of why that might be and why someone would assume that from, for example, two female friends sharing a room.
I can understand why someone would be insulted that doing so would automatically have a sexual connotation. Really, why would it?0 -

Because two women can share a room platonically and indeed that used to be the default assumption. I had no idea this had changed.
Or perhaps it hasn't and it is you who has the skewed viewpoint?
This has piqued my interest so I have put up a poll on DT.0 -

That doesn't remotely answer the question of why it would be an insult if somebody thought you might be in a same sex relationship.0 -
Sounds like a real fun set of friends :rotfl:Its not that we have more patience as we grow older, its just that we're too tired to care about all the pointless drama0

With regards to some above posts, yes I do tend to get annoyed when people assume I'm in a couple with my best mate.
My best mate is male. I am female.
Would you assume we were a couple if you saw us out together?
Personally, I tend not to assume if people are "coupled" or not, whether gay or straight. It's none of my business. If they are, it's nice, and if they aren't, it's nice.
