I used exisoftware with no issues ...
I admit I was very suspicious of the price but my copy (downloaded) of Office 2007 has been no trouble at all, I have registered it with MS and get all the updates...
I assumed it is the way OEM stuff gets done?

No it isn't. It is still illegal software, you'll have been given a generated key, most probably a volume licence key, thereby bypassing the activation process and enabling you to update. Being able to update the software does not make it legal. I don't know how many times I need to say this but NO RETAILER CAN LEGALLY OFFER DOWNLOADABLE COPIES OF OFFICE!!!!!! Only MS themselves offer a download service for retail MS products.

OEM copies still come on disc and in that instance are legally required to be sold with hardware anyway. Whether it works or not is irrelevant, you've just paid for pirated software.

If you take the time to read the thread you'll see that this has been said before and why it is pirated. The issue isn't whether it illegal or not as it just is, that's obvious and even if we ignore the fact that no retailer is allowed to offer downloadable office and we were going by circumstantial evidence have you missed reading that as well? If it was operating legally then why would it give a fake address? And why switch hosters?

This site supports the idea of getting the best deal, but doing it illegally is not the way, otherwise you may as well do exactly the same thing for free since it's pirated.

  • I originally found the esoftwareworld link on amazon back in early November, and thought it was a little too cheap, so I looked over the site and it seemed to be OK. I even left it a while and then went back, checked again. because of the Amazon and PayPal links, I obviously didn't check well enough - I trusted both of those sites.

I purchased Office, and, like many of you, was surprised to find an e-mail link for a download instead of the expected physical delivery. I was obviously, at that point, concerned and was looking for any further sign that something was wrong. My next thought was that the link would obviously be false, but it wasn't. Then the key worked, which allayed my fears significantly, as I was expecting that to fail. When it appeared to go through all the Microsoft verifications and it ran perfectly I relaxed.

Today I was asked by my father about cost of Office, went to get up the link, and surprise...it had gone. I ran a search and found this forum and this thread...wish I'd seen them sooner. I wasn't aware of the issues with digital downloads, and now it's too late to raise a dispute with PayPal in this regard.

I have now checked my Paypal, and changed the password to be safe - fortunately no other payments were taken as a result of this.

It appears that they are still at it though. www.exisoftware.co.uk is still up and running, and as has been said elsewhere, is still looking just like esoftwareworld, just with a different design skin.
  • This company is a sham...I did order Microsoft office 2007 Professional but recieved nothing!

I have made a resolution request from Paypal ands I have also contacted Trading Standards!

I will let you know the outcome!

    Hi All

I'm in the process of buying a new PC and looking to get Microsoft Office on there as cheaply as possible. I searched Amazon and came up with this version which seems pretty reasonable (sorry about link length I don't know how to make them short)

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Microsoft-Office-2007-Student-Licence/dp/B000HCZ8EO/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/202-6597340-7360651?ie=UTF8&s=software&qid=1190715578&sr=8-1

I can't take advantage of the current student offers as I don't have an .ac.uk email address, nor do I work for the NHS so can't get it via Microsoft HUP (I work for the Police)

On the Amazon page there was a sponsored link to the following company who are offering Microsoft Office Professional 2007 FULL VERSION for £31.99

    http://www.exisoftware.co.uk/

I know the old saying "if it looks too good to be true it usually is" but thought I would check on here if anyone has any experience of them.

    Thanks

They definitely sell pirated software as I got confirmation from Xara the other day:

    Hi,
Many thanks for reporting this, this site is not authorized to sell our software. Our staff are investigating.
Please do not purchase from this site.
    Regards,
    CS

  • I e-mailed Microsoft about this company and after several days their reply was that they cannot comment, but they would recommend that I buy from them.

However, the site is down today.

I'd contacted MS ages ago and got no personal response at all. At least Xara seemed to take it very seriously and I suspect they're behind the site being taken down, although the site has been down before and popped up again.

  • this company is a fraud, i have recently purchased the microsoft office for £31.99, i purchased it in january and i'm still waiting for my product. i have sent many emails to them asking for my goods or a refund, to which i have recieved neither. the last email i sent them was to inform them that i am reporting them to trading standards and now its as if the website has totally vanished off the face of the earth, but whatever you do. do NOT purchase anything from this fraudulent site
  • Yes, It is certailnly a scam. I've also been stung recently and complaints to Paypal (whom they use) are to no avail either. Exisoftware are simply taking money by deception.

Well I found a thread on a Microsoft forum from back in November and MS themselves confirm that it was a pirate site in addition to Xara telling me it was. So there's not really any doubt at all that it was only ever a scam site even if they did provide you with something.

Hope you and dannyb800 get your money back.
