American Airlines, passport office and underground staff and tfl police have all been fantastic!
Hubby is taking morning off to make sure he gets passport and to airport in time, driven no tubes this time.#JusticeForGrenfell0 -
RESULT!!!! He had to book a flight infront of them to prove he was travelling aas unless he had travel in the next 7 days then he would have to wait a week and it will be printed tonight to collect first thing tomorrow, they gave him number for the ESTA!
He is booked for tomorrow evening, in all cost with flight change and passport £390 extra .
I wouldn't have booked another flight until I had the passport in my hand and an approved esta.
The airline won't be so understanding about doing a cheap change if he ends up cancelling this flight.0 -
ESTA done whilst he sat there waiting for train back.
He had no choice to get the passport he needed a flight, thankfully he was okay.#JusticeForGrenfell0 -
So pleased that at least things are sorted holiday wise, I can understand what a shock it must have been for him and a worry for you. Apart from the loss of 1 day and the extra flight cost at least it has all worked out in the end.
I hope the holiday goes well and now perhaps the thought of travel insurance will be higher up the "must have" in the future.
So now for you a nice cup of tea {or something stronger;0) } and you will sleep better tonight :0)0 -
Why have 2 insurance policies covering the same thing? That can be worse, because when claiming they usually ask if you're covered on any other insurance, and if you are it gets into a p**sing contest between the insurers as to how the claim is divided.Hubby is convinced he is covered on our multi trip plan but can't check till later.
He went to the USA last November and I purchased the insurance for him for less than twenty quid, if and when he sorts this mess out I will do that again regardless of hubbys insurance just so I have the peace of mind.
Sorry to hear about what happened - hope they manage to catch the scum.0 -
What an awful thing to happen. I am sure a lot of lads would have acted differently and possibly got stabbed for it. I hope the CCTV shows the people concerned and they catch them quickly.0

He is my husbands step son so as he travels alone often hence his own policy, we use the family trip one when we travel as a family.
Thank you for the support here and suggestions today everything has been took onboard and hopefully when I get that text to say he has boarded I can breathe a sigh of relief.
I always worried abut him being in NY or Philadelphia never batted an eyelid about him taking tubes in London.
Just thankful that yes it cost a few quid but he still gets his trip and gets to see his gf and he came out off this unharmed bar a few quid down.#JusticeForGrenfell0 -
I've travelled all over the world including the US and London is somewhere I feel more unsafe than almost anywhere else I've been!He is my husbands step son so as he travels alone often hence his own policy, we use the family trip one when we travel as a family.

I have a friend who lives 30 miles from New York, he doesn't lock his doors when he goes out. People in bars alone will leave their money/wallet on the bar when going to the toilet. They don't seem to have the same fear of crime as we do here.0 -
Sorry to hear about what happened, shocking, never heard of anything like that on the tube but glad you got it sorted.0

OMG! :eek:What happened on the tube was very scary, he had two men sit either side of him and tell him to get off with his case and leave his bag.
He didn't argue just got off as instructed, seems tubes on the way too Heathrow are prone to this type of thing, at least he isn't hurt.
Getting that call at 7am saying Mum they took my bag !!!!!! do I do? Panicked me as it would anyone, thankfully station staff did their job amazingly well and got tfl police involved and reassured my lad all would work out.
That is so shocking! And sinister!
I thought it would have been the usual 'bag snatch and run off' type of thing.
Glad everything is sorted.0
