Cheers as ever for the quick reply, had a touch of de ja vù (as a long time lurker with not many posts) to find we had the same conversation 2yrs ago re deals and postage.
Been offered the s7 at £25 (CS option 3, 1gb (possibly 3gb ?), usual calls txts) but fancy the edge for the bigger battery.
Looks like the pac will get used this time, CS/service this year has been terrible, still owe me line rental for unusable service after march storms (promised refund once masts sorted, apparently CS made no notes on account, no call backs when promised, complete shambles).
Cheers

Haha! It's a small world, eh? No doubt we'll both be reading each others posts in 2 years time when we're up for renewal again
Yeah, the PAC route will definitely give you more leverage but I was relatively content with what I was offered. This is why I wanted to see if there was much more to be gained by taking a hard stance. If you do use the PAC option and go through retentions (the guys that call you a few days after you request the PAC rather than the retentions team you can speak to directly) then I'll be interested to hear the best you could get.0 -
Haha yep
They called but could only do £30 - 32. and that was there best offer.
I figure the new handsets more expensive than the s5, but not £7-8 a month more x24 (going on comparible sim free prices). ah well, we'll see if they call back before the end date on the contract. . .0 -
Quick question, you know when your upgrade date comes around, is there anything stopping you changing to a sim only plan?Dwy galon, un dyhead,

No - as long as the contracts up as in the 24 months you can. Once my original contract years back with Vodafone was up I moved to a 12 month SIM deal - originally £21 a month then I realised how easy it was to barter for a better deal and got £13.50 a year, this past year I've got it for £8.50 a month with unlimited texts & minutes & 5GB of data which to me was really good (I now buy my phones outright and just have sim deals) The 12 month sim deals seem the best value.
Know I won't get a lower price next year but I'll be after more data as want to do a combined sim deal with them for my iPad mini too.Sealed Pot Challenge number 8 Amount declared £365.50.

And Im back in the game!!
My Vodafone contract ends soon and I phoned 48h ago to ask for a PAC having been questioned heavily on why I wanted to leave.
I dont know if it helps but I have 2 contract phones with Vodafone running on a pattern to expire on alternate years.
The operator offered me the SIMO deal mentioned several times in the last few pages which I declined and then offered it again at a 30% discount which I again declined. The fact it was a 12 month lock in was not volunteered until I asked - but obvious really I suppose.
I waited ages for the PAC which failed to materialise and so phoned again and was passed to several different people until I spoke to one with 'authority" to issue me another one who again offered the discounted SIMO.
So now Im waiting.
I currently have 7GB of data and unlimited minutes and texts with an S5.
What I want is an S7 with 5GB of data - this has free Spotify premium and EU calls and data - with the phone at modest up front cost. Online resellers have this package at £32 per month with Quidco available too.
Interestingly I now qualify for the VEA through work so if retentions get close to this Im in the money - lets see.............0 -

Update : decided to send my upgrade back as I'm going to move onto a basic phone for a few months. They were prepared to make me a better offer than the one I'd been given, but my main reason for wanting to do what I'm doing is to take a break from having a smart phone so did not discuss anything. Not the best moneysaving tip I guess (as will probably have less leverage when I'm on my 30 day contract in future), but a good quality of life one for me I think0 -
I got Sim only 22gb data, unlimited calls and texts, and 4gb European data and unlimted calls/texts from Europe and spotify
for
£22.20 a month with 3 months free line rental, so when added to a £10 goodwill credit from last week brings it down to £15.82 a month over 12 months
pushed for more but no movement, but reasonably happy with it.0 -
Hi guys,
I though i just post the retention deal I agreed to, just in case others are looking for a similar deal.
25Gb data, unlimited minutes and text, 4GB roaming, 12 month entertainment package- 12 month contract length at £15 a month (40% discount)
Was also offered the 20Gb deal at £12 a month for 12 month but doesn't come with the entertainment package.
Hope this helps people.0 -
