Will be difficult to keep the same amount of minutes, texts and data for £20 plus a free phone. You'll either have to pay a bit more each month, pay for the phone or take less minutes or data.

I have come out of contract and I am offered less this month than last. And that is with less mins. I was told that vodafone cannot match other offers as they had changed there pricing structure. Not sure if I got a jobs worth or not. Looks like 2 contracts going to virgin. Shame asI wanted to stay with them.

Outbound retentions offered me the following deal which I initially accepted:

    Free Samsung S3
    300 Minutes
    Unlimited Texts
    500MB Data
    Unlimited Landline Calls
    18 Month Contract
    £31 per Month

I had to push for unlimited landline calls. However when they upgraded me they had placed some content bar on my account, so I called them up to lift this and at the same time told them to run through the package I was on. Everything added up except they told me that the unlimited landline calls were only for one month. I told them I was told it was for the full 18 month duration and the operator told me that the call would have to be listened to and I'd get a call back from someone in the assurance team.

The next day I had a call back and the gentleman confirmed that I was right and the operator had told me that unlimited landline calls would be for the full 18 month duration. He said the only way he could add the unlimited landline calls to my package was by quadrupling my minutes and doubling my data. He said this was a sim only plan but belonged to my Samsung S3. So now I have:

    Free Samsung S3
    1200 Minutes
    Unlimited Texts
    1GB Data
    2GB BT Openzone Wifi
    Unlimited Landline Calls
    18 Month Contract
    £31 per Month

So it's always a good idea to call back to confirm that the deal you have told is what had actually been applied to your account.
  • I was on a 12 month SIM only package and was due a upgrade on 25th July I phoned the upgrades team on 18th June and got the following:

    900 mins
    3000 texts
    1GB data
    Unlimited Vodafone to Vodafone calls
    Unlimited data from 3 months
£15.50 per month for 12 months

    I am very very happy.

The longer you hold out the better deal they offer you.

Although in my case it wasn't holding out as I just can't take them messing me around any more. My account has never been right since I joined two years ago I could never see my bills due registering before porting over my number from t mobile yet despite trying to get it sorted and a stupid amount of calls they still hadn't sorted it oh and they added an extra month to my account somehow...then basically called me a liar when I told them the date was wrong... explained I had the original contract and I had texts from the day I got it which was a month before they said (some magic phone that to be able to text on it before I brought it!!)

The deal they offered was ok but not great sim only £10.50 a month 300 mins unlimited text and 500mb. But I can get it for cheaper elsewhere and I really can't be dealing with their crap service and rude staff (not all) anymore so even if they offered it to me for free I still would rather not stay!!

It is also noticable the lack of Vodafone input since the beginning of May. They may have pulled the plug on this site?

  • Hi all

Just to let you know what I accepted.

    Samsung galaxy 3
    18 month contract
    600mins
    unlimited text
    Unlimited Vodafone to Vodafone calls
    1g data
    Free 08 numbers
    £31 per month.

Had requested my PAC code and had a call from outbound retentions offering me the deal. Apparently it is worth £41 pm but as I had been with them 10 years and an average monthly bill of £40 (although up to £400 occassionally as I travel for work) they reduced the bill.

Happy couldn't see anything similar on the comparison sites.
