Late start but I am determined to make the most of a day 'home alone' - Mr N has gone with a friend to the motor bike show. They've taken the car as friend recently had a shoulder op so can't drive cars or bikes.
    Summary of aims:
    - make 3 phone calls (hate phones)
    - finish 2 reports (optimistic)
    - catch up on tues-Fri flying list (beyond optimistic).

    So far:
    - emptied kitchen compost and put pile of recycling in appropriate bin.
    - put away clean items on drainer. Washed up a few miscellaneous pans etc which were in line for the sink.
    - put away anything lurking on long worktop. Wiped it down, including any appliances underneath.
    - did one load of washing including bathroom mats. Hung outside to dry.
-set up 3 folders in email 'inbox' for new students. oops that wasn't on list.

Ok need to grit teeth and do some phoning.
Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.
It's tough getting rid of the past but it does free up space for the future.
  • Well hello all,

Sorry, I've been totally awol for days and days. Big renovation stuff going on at Biscuit Cottage and I'm just super extra busy. I've been flying, but in a crisis management type fashion.
We have completely stripped out the two rooms that used to be our bedrooms, ceilings down, plaster off the walls etc. One massive skip filled and another one delivered. Lots of associated flinging, charity shop giving, hoovering, wiping and thinking 'WHAT ARE WE DOING '.
We start in the kitchen tonight, then me and the girls moving in with mum and dad for a few days () as the kitchen will be out of action.

I've done an iona style list, seeing as I've missed a week!

Natty thanks for the list! I think Friday is the latest I've ever said this!

Dizzy hope your Dh is OK x

ATB glad Ds is better, and that OH redeemed himself!

Iona I see your enormous lists are back! I take this as a good thing.

    Raphael, welcome back x

Frodders hope you are feeling better

Valli well done for slimmer of the week and all your amazing flying this week x

YL well done to your Ds re theory test

LW I hope you've got your meds sorted, and the pain is better x

    PHEW!

    Afternoon all

DH is home, feeling much better.
I have had my dental check-up this morning and been told that my teeth are good :D. Also did a top-up shop while I was out.

Flying is taking a back seat until I have finished my essay. I'm not getting on very well with it atm - I'm very tired :( I must just keep chipping away at it.
  • Hi all

Not in a good place, sorry. House is a tip, I just cant seem to juggle both jobs and keep on top of the housework despite working 6 days a week and often staying at the laptop until bedtime ... anxiety is through the roof. Problems with both kids, nothing serious but its not helping.

Sorry, compared to many on here I have nothing really to worry about but I am really stressed and unhappy at the moment. And I have a cold!

I'm randomly getting a Captcha with my larger posts.
Try pressing 'Back' once. I can usually rescue it that way.
I got a Captcha thing when I posted the other day, too. So I'm glad it's not just me! :D I hate those things with a passion!

Frog done - new peg bag made
With fabric that my sis gave me, ages ago, when I was helping her clear out, so I will remember her every time I peg out my washing. She isn't here to be told I have finally made something with the fabric, so I am telling you. I still have fabric left.
Well done; good use of the fabric. Sis would be pleased, I'm certain.
My peg bag died - but I've repurposed one of my very large stash of cloth shopping bags as a replacement.;)

Still no prescription. :( Mr LW visited the surgery this morning, and they said it's with Dr B for signing, and they'd ring him when it's ready. No call as yet. :(

However, he did get a text from his mate A to say he's put down a deposit on a Kia Picanto SE and he'll be picking it up next Friday. :T This is relevant to us because I've loaned A the deposit money. Now, I wouldn't normally dream of loaning money to anyone but A's old car has died the death - would cost a lot more than its worth to fix, and had been SORNed; A has been working from home as much as possible, and having to get a taxi to the office on days he had to go in; and A is a Good Bloke; I've known him 15 years, Mr LW has known him 27 years, and he was very, very helpful when Mr LW was in the horse-piddle, so I'm 100% certain I'll get it back. Probably in October, when he no longer has to pay child maintenance. It's fine, I don't need it, it's just sitting in the bank earning not much interest, so I'm happy to help A out. :o

No apologies needed; your struggles are just as valid as anyone else's. Just do what has to come next (I got that from a book) and try not to think about the next thing - it has to wait its turn. I have no idea how I ever managed to work full time, look after a horse and ever do any flying - and I don't even have kids. Now I'm nominally part time (although self-employment means I always have something to do) and no horse but am I any better? Nope.

Since posting earlier I have written half a report, made the 3 phone calls (2 of which I had to leave a message/email so they aren't really 'dealt with' and the 3rd was trying to argue my car insurance down without much success, so I have revisited several sites and am even more confused). Oh and I swept the kitchen floor.

    to Pigpen

  • YL - I am sending you the biggest of hugs my lovely. I only wish I were closer so I could help. You are doing too much, that much is clear. Please please take care - you are no use to anyone if you're riddled with anxiety. xxxx

Iona - I am glad Mr Iona is feeling much better xx
BM - Wow honey you are going through a lot aren't you. The house will be worth it in the end :) xx

Half term has only just started and my two are warring. Joy! x

YL you and I both know only too well how anxiety can eat you up and spit you out in little pieces.
Like Narc0 says, just do what comes next, the tasks after that will wait their turn.

I just got Mr LW to go outside and chase a cat off next door's nesting box. Blighted moggy! I know for a fact there are bluetits nesting in there.

Still no call from surgery re prescription.:( Mr LW is going to pop down there again tomorrow morning. :A

ETA Nice to have a visit from Piggers, however fleeting.:o

    Hello pigpen
Took dad and step mum out for dinner today a few miles away. Didn't realise I'd dropped my phone in the carpark. Neighbour got a call from my phone guy had picked it up and was trying to get it back to me. Ironically she was driving past the village I had been in to pick up dog food and get her dogs nails clipped. Guy with my phone was heading to the same dogfood place after his jazzband had finished playing at the pub we'd just been watching him at! He took my phone to where they were both heading and I now have it back.
Talk about six degrees of separation
I have rung him and thanked him and am really glad we were generous when a collection for the band went round the pub tables.
